Yes many do, but rather that than show no effort at all. If you can walk the tightrope between trying too hard and trying too little then you're doing right.

It's all a conundrum.

The only answer is just be yourself.

Don't try to be what you think someone wants.

If you are yourself then those who will want to chat/meet with you will find you. And you may be surprised at who that turns out to be.

But there will be false starts and blind alleys (and maybe a few boobie traps) as well those who will help you find your way through the maze

I think initially newbies try hard just to be noticed, but that usually settles down after a while. For the old timers (mentioned no names here lol), if they weren't trying hard, to keep the threads rolling on, think it would be a quiet place, just an opinion

I think you will actually find if you analyse closely (or not that closely) that the "try hards" aren't REALLY trying, more "pot luck genitals in hand blind hope" and at times with eau de desperation adorning their cuffs.

It's less "try" and more a persistent lack of thought or effort.

This is a complex question with many aspects to it!

I think it depends on the individual and what they are looking for from fab. Rather than "trying too hard" I'd frame it as getting what you want from your interactions.

Some people want a bit of a flirt, some people want serious discussions, some people want to make friends, some people want to explore fantasies, some people want to be controversial, some people want to get their rocks off.

If you are here looking for a specific outcome, but you're not achieving it, I guess you could be trying too hard, or just going about it in the wrong way.

Have I thought too hard about this answer? Probably
