This rings true. My mum has for years said she wants to leave my dad. But was scared she'd not find anything new and that they'd have to sell the house blah blah blah. She probably wouldn't, but my dad would have and could have been happy!

For me (Luke) it was children. Things came to a head in the relationship in other areas and we split up anyway.

I'm sure it happens the other way round and women end up in sexless relationships when men want sexual relationships but end up single.

It makes me sad. I have an extremely low sex drive, due to medications and my past, and my husband has NEVER complained, never cheated etc etc. Why? Because sex isn’t the most important thing.

At first I didn’t want my marriage to end, but glad it did now. I understand myself better, aware of my strengths and weaknesses and did a few things I’d have never done within my marriage.

I stayed because it was easy but once the initial hard bit was over, new job and home etc...I love my freedom now.

And those that are saying their relationship works even though they have differing sex drives and wouldn't dream of cheating, well, the major difference is openess and communication.

It works because you are making it work, because you're including each other in the discussion, because you realise things are the way they are and arm yourselves with the tools to deal with it rationally and considerately. No pressure.

A breakdown in communication and real communication is 9 times out of 10 the biggest problem. The lack of sex is because you've stopped talking and stopped listening, feel like you don't understand each other or what the other wants, needs or expects.

Fuck going to counselling tho eh, coz that may mean you both need to shoulder responsibility and it's easier to blame the frigid one.
