Essex.

There are a few theories as to what people see when they "see a ghost."

Obviously the first one is, they are seeing a ghost.

Others include it's a tear in time and you are actually seeing people from the past as they are doing what ever you see.

Another is that there are infinite realities and that occasionally you can see into a different one to the one you exist in.

The human brain likes to fill in the blanks with familiar things, like when you see a face on a piece of cheese.

Also yet another theory is that in exactly the right circumstances some how a recording is made in the fabric of a building and that occasionally it plays.

Finally, mental health problems can cause hallucinations.

I have had things happen which I can't explain but still not sure which one/s I would put it down to.

Say there is ghosts, what actually are they? Are they a person's soul? An imprint? Something from a higher dimensional plane? Also, wouldn't everywhere be haunted technically? I'm not saying I don't believe either, but I am skeptical about it and other paranormal things.

Ghosts aren't real. If they were someone would have some real evidence and not some dodgy video shot with a potato. Also, why is every ghost in Victorian clothing? Where's the ones in hoodies and baseball caps? Where's all the ghost animals? Derren Brown did some shows to highlight how belief in the occult is about humans psychological and wanting or needing to believe in more than pure life and death. They are worth a watch.

Would love to know why

If dead brains could ever re animate and interact with us why Madeleine McCann did not torture her killer

This concept ad infinitum

And !!! And!!!! And !!!

What distresses my mind is that instead of actually wanting to discover the basis behind the myriads of mysteries so many are simply placated and passfied with oh it's a dead brain , oh ok then that's it explained then

My belief is that life shows us everything is recyclable, our physical bodies are ashes to ashes dust to dust. We are all made of stardust so why not whatever makes us US. How that happens and how it’s explained I’m not so sure. There is some very poor language used to express much in the paranormal field but that does not mean there are explanations for whatever kind of energy the soul or spirit is. Science is now agreeing there are more complex kinds of matter that is interconnected i.e. dark matter etc. Perhaps one day soon we will understand it all better

I'd suggest then that based upon your logic every computer algorithm that has ever had energy flowing could equally now still exist despite the silicon now being long gone

I concur everything is indeed star dust however there is zero to suggest despite our brains once being part of nuclear fusion that we experience any memory of that event

Most unlikely, whatever they may be supposed to be.

If they are people who died - sorry, I believe when we die, that's it. The brain decays and the personality of the person is gone.

There's no credible scientific evidence for ghosts, despite them apparently being common.

Methinks you’re thinking too literally, everything decays albeit at different rates... think of a compost heap which decays very quickly. Carbon such as trees eventually becomes compressed into coal. Stars such as our Sun expand until they finally explode, galaxies are formed in this repeating cycle of energy over millennia. Random fact, there is no new water in the world and never has been... so some scientists say. Plastics and silicone too will have some kind of decay process which in turn will somehow go into a cycle of renewal. That’s the process of all life. All I’m postulating is perhaps whatever our consciousness is also goes through that process. As we advance as a species (covid willing ) perhaps the language of “ghosts” and “supernatural” will be explained just as we have explained gravity, split the atom and recognised x-rays, ultraviolet light, ultrasound and so much more
