Durham-ish

I bought the book last week, because of all the hype about it...

The book, to me takes ages to get going and by the start of chapter 8, he'd only snogged her in the lift

I'm hoping it gets better....

Yes certainly 9hristian Grey could teach you guys a thing or so.

If you took on his business advice and made yourselves millionaires, flying women by helicopter to Paris for lunch, Milan for a little shopping, Monte Carlo for an evening out, then I guarantee you wouldn't go short of meets on here

Maybe it's high time I finished my book if Erotica is the buzz word at the moment. Lots of women are downloading/buying 50-Grey so there's a huge market for it.

Now, where's me kindle!

A friend of mine on FaceBook had the best quote I've heard about the trilogy

"I got more turned on by Zippy and Bungle playing with their twangers, then I did 50 shades."

I got to Chapter 6, and gave up.

It's not very well written and the supposed steamy scenes are lame! I also hated all that bloody inner goddess rubbish too!

"So what's all the hype about this book? Could this mr. Grey teach us guys something? "

The hype is that its sold well electronically and in numbers to women so people who write/sell books are looking to repeat the success. Is it any good? Well average at best and there are better pieces of literature out there.

The English Literature Department of one particualr Uni, which shall remain nameless here.., have stated the level of literacy (clearly not the content) as that of year 4/5 primary school readers....;-)

That's a University looking for attention as any publishing house have prof readers and staff who will alter books prior to publication to make sure the grammar is correct. Its not a bad book and will be fine for some but has left many disappointed.

There's a brilliant take on this on spoof news site the Daily Mash - apologies for the long post, but it's all funny

--

Men puzzled by porn that you read

MALES are deeply confused by a new sort of pornography that is both for women and made of words.

E L James’s novel 50 Shades of Grey, which has smashed paperback sales records, is simultaneously more extreme than men’s own sexual fantasies and requires the user to hold it with both hands.

Network engineer Tom Booker said: “I heard the wife going on to her sister about 50 Shades, but thought it couldn’t possibly be pornography because there weren’t any pictures.

“However I’ve just found her logged onto an internet chatroom as spank_me_kindly, asking for a master who will take her to the Red Room of Pain, so something’s clearly up.”

The book, which chronicles the romance between businessman Christian Grey and college graduate Anastasia Steele, has further confused men by having a respectable cover.

Plumber Roy Hobbs said: “It doesn’t have the word ‘Slutz’ on it in neon lettering or any females covered in soap suds. That’s a level of subtlety I find intimidating.”

However copywriter Julian Cook said: “I’m a sophisticated man. I’ve known books can be sexy ever since I frotted myself raw to chapter five of James Herbert’s The Rats aged 13.

“But apparently my life partner, who was furious when I bought her crotchless panties for Valentine’s Day, now thinks it’s really hot to read about virgins signing contracts to be sex slaves.

“I’ve suggested we do some of that submissive-dominant stuff but she’s told me to piss off. I’ll never understand women.”

Francesca Johnson, Mr Cook’s girlfriend, explained: “Sexual subjugation is hugely arousing when practised with a devastatingly handsome multi-millionaire who buys you iPads and Audis, less so with someone who picks his toenails during CSI: Miami.”
