When I did the Myers Briggs test thing I got 51% introvert and 49% extrovert which makes sense to me. I need a balance. I come across quite extroverted in social situations and I go stir crazy if I'm alone too much but I also find lots of socialising draining and need so much time on my own.

That sounds about right for me too although with different nuances - socially I can be quite introverted until I'm comfortable but then an extroverted side kicks in. I crave both being given time on my own and being sociable too

The only problem with Myers Briggs is that it’s completely meaningless. It was made up by a mother and daughter in the 1940s loosely based on Carl Jung’s work. Neither of the women had any psychological training. It’s widely dismissed by most psychologists and yet HR departments love it.

Ambivert. I’m on the cusp of introversion and extroversion. I was more extroverted when younger but personal crises and development shifted me to be more reflective and introspective. I am situationally introverted and extroverted, however I need much more time alone to recharge my batteries. I have fewer ‘mates‘ and a very, very small number of people I would consider a good friend.

However many of the things I do involve being extroverted and I enjoy them, but need more time to recover after these days.

Depends who I'm with and where I am. If I'm with new people or in a new situation I can be quite introverted. I shake with nerves, but I also chat utter bollocks so that can come across sometimes as confidence.

i just tried a 10 question Myers Briggs test and got 10% Extroverted and 90% Introverted, some of the questions weren't relevant to me tho as the asked about socialising with others & exercise , neither had "I dont" as an option. im deffo 100% introverted.

The test has been scientifically updated many times and links closely to Jung’s work. Academics are constantly scrutinising it and that’s why it’s so damn expensive (there are free identical ones). Psychologists focusing on workplace synergy rate it highly and that’s why the HR lot do to. Remember, it shows the working you, not the personal you.

An introvert's introvert.

Very introspective, prefer my own company or that of close family. Quiet in large gatherings (usually studying everyone else). Happy with silence. Can become more talkative/excitable on a one to one once I feel comfortable with the person. Comfortable in my own skin. Quite self-contained. Don't always open up. Can overthink. Know my moods.

Did I say I was quite introspective?

"Can you be a bit of both? Total extrovert in the right situation "

It’s possible to be both or either in different contexts.

But extrovert doesn’t mean outgoing and introverted doesn’t mean shy.

I can be very sociable and outgoing on occasions but I’m an introvert.

Extroverts get energised by being around lots of people and drained by being alone, introverts get energy from being alone or very small groups and drained from large groups.
