I'd make a massive vat of Scouse and keep chucking in cheap veg etc from the selling off trolley. Easy peasy

Yes I think so. If I went to the supermarket at the right time I could find some juicy bargains, fruit and veg knocked down that I could use. I'd buy a big bag of pasta and tinned tomatoes, cook that with veg for dinner most nights. Porridge for breakfast. I'm not sure about lunch but I'm sure I'd be able find something.

Yeah bread tap water and beans. Give me a pellet gun and I could live on nothing if I had to do that.

Yep. I've picked up some brilliant bargains before at supermarkets (salmon fillets for 8p sort of thing). I like lentils etc and there's one of those pound for a huge bowl of fruit or veg places nearish me. It wouldn't always be that delicious and I'd have to have basic seasonings in but basically, yes.

I could. I wouldn't want to again.

If you're resourceful and have the time and know how you can feed yourself very cheaply but it's wearing week after week.

If you're a meat eater you need to cut that to a minimum and replace with cheaper protein such as pulses. Make best use of frozen and tinned fruit and vegetables (a tin of peaches for 33p from Aldi is cheaper than fresh for instance) , scope out special offers and have a menu plan.

Quite right. You shouldn't be teaching Granny to suck eggs. Or beans. Or anything else for that matter

I often do.

My diet is outrageous tho and I cook for myself maybe once a month if that. Sandwiches, pot noodles and sweets.

My sandwiches often just contain butter and a sauce like salad cream or garlic mayo

I’d buy everything the week before this challenges starts, spending around a good £150 so I could manage on £20 this week. I’d use the £20 just to top up with snacks this week.

God I would struggle. I bought two Sirloins for dinner tonight that were £16. Honestly, I feel bad because I spend a fortune in Waitrose each week.

I could myself as I’m not a fussy eater but my family wouldn’t be impressed. Admittedly I like quality and good cuts of meat etc so they have got used to that. I would be happy having porridge for breakfast. Cold pasta salad for lunch and beans on toast for tea.

On a mooch

It can be done with three base meats, pasta, frozen fruit and veg, new potato’s, seasoning, tomato paste, wraps and beans. One group missing is dairy but that rarely features in my diet anyway
