I have three granddaughters. My daughter is due to have a baby boy any day now.her former partner's mother is helping out even though my daughter is no longer with her son. She has at this moment my daughter's partner and the grandbairns at her home. Am in two minds here, first its great that she is helping and can provide transport as i cant.on the other hand this grandchild is nothing to do with her and if i was in her position i woudnt want to feel i may be overstepping the mark where the other grandparents are concerned.my daughter's partner doesnt have he's parents anymore.what do other people think?

If everyone is happy with the situation, I don't see a problem with it.

Although she is no longer with the father, I assume the other children are his. The fact that she accepts her new partner is a good thing.

Presumably there's a reason why they are not in their own home.

"How do you feel about it?

I think that’s pretty obvious from her thread!!!

But you say the child is nothing to do with her but it’s her grandchild just as much as it is yours.

T"

From reading the post I think this is her ex partners mum not the grandmother of the new baby.

Sorry I became a bit confused as I thought this woman was the maternal grandmother.

I think kids can never have too many people love them, blood related or not. Being in an environment where they are adore, wanted and nutured can never be a bad thing.

This woman is not the new grandson's grandma. She is my daughter's former partner's mother. And my daughter's new partner is staying there overnight with the granddaughter's.

I think it is lovely that she still wants to help your daughter.

I'd feel a bit miffed. Our son lodged with a couple once. When we visited the woman told me she was his second mum. I was fuming.

What kind of relationship does your daughter have with her son now.

Maybe if her son treated her badly she's trying to make up for it.

I'm not sure I fully understand the circumstances or problem but...

I'd say that if you or the other grandparents can't help in these ways then maybe you should be grateful? I'm sure they are.

She is still looking after the mother of her grandchildren?
