Blur were by far the best band of the two, however 'Country House' is by far their worst song!

Ruislip

I always thought Oasis were just noisy and their vocal lines were rip-offs of other people's songs.

I thought Blur were a much more interesting band, but I didn't care for either. I had gone off pop music by the time they came along. Luke

Roll with It and Country House were rubbish.

And the answer to the question is Pulp really

I was in sixth form when this was going on. Probably more an Oasis fan but didn’t mind Blur either. I particularly liked The Universal.

I really enjoyed the Cool Britannia years. There was a certain optimism. Although that was probably my youth.

Roll With It isn't one Oasis' best. But I do like the Top of the Pops performance with Noel on lead vocals. Country House isn't one of Blur's best, but it's better than Roll With It.

There and to the left a bit

I never really understood the need for comparison...other than the obvious hype to sell more records.

They were two totally different bands, with vastly different sounds, and both pretty awesome at their height.

A similar thing happened with The Beatles and The Stones in the 60s and to a lesser extent The Specials and Madness in the late 70s/early 80s...and in both those instances there wasn't a great deal of comparison either

Caerphilly

It was a good thing overall at the time (apart from some comments that didn't age well)

Put a lot of eyes and ears on the British scene and gave exposure to a tonne of bands that deserved it.

I really liked both in their prime! Blur got a bit rubbish though, in my opinion. I didn't like their later stuff.

Wonderwall will always have happy memories for me.

At the time Oasis were my favourite , just because they werethe more guitar based of the two . Oasis had some great rifts and intros , and more of a rock n roll band feel ..

However Blurs song 2 could blow away any Oasis track , on the “ let em him it “ scale

And Albarn went on to do the Gorillaz whom I loved so prabaly musically Blur were the most important band

I did, I went out and bought both singles, which is a mystery cause they were both shite songs.

It was never about oasis being the best band musically, they admit that, it was about the complete package being the best band.

They could come back now and sell knebworth out for a full week.

Blur may of rivalled them early on but Oasis just became a monster

Without any doubt oasis.brilliant songs, some stompers (headshrinker) and some truly beautiful songs (don’t go away, stop crying your heart out). Favourite band, strangely not sure if I’d like to see them reform tho.

"Roll with It and Country House were rubbish.

Loved Pulp used to sing mis-shapes very very loudly.

Though I did like Blur, song 2 is mine and boys dancing and headbanging in the car song. But I still like beetlebum, tender and to the end gets me every time I listen to it

I agree

I wouldn't put on Oasis to listen to at home these days, but I'd be at that gig like a shot. Blur I struggle to even watch TV highlights without skipping most of the boring parts

Worthing

Oasis had huge selling albums and but for the personality clash between the Gallaghers could have been much bigger. Blur I think had a few decent songs but nowhere near as big as Oasis in terms of album sales and concert attendance.

Blur by a country mile. Oasis are derivative anthem merchants. But as a few people have said Pulp and Jarvis are much more interesting.
