Love London. Just wander and enjoy the atmosphere and the lovely buildings. Walk through St James park to the Palace. Stop off at tesco extra for a meal deal.

If you're going to St Dunstan you should also take in a tiny little place called Postman's Park which is about 15 minutes walk away. It has all these memorials to various heroic deeds and is something completely different

There's a bunch of Roman ruins under the buildings in The City (coliseum and Temple of Mirtha etc).

Viktor Wynds Museum of Curiosities in Hackney is pretty freaky ( one of the exhibits is a jar of Amy Winehouses poo ).

Borough Street Market is good for food

SE London

You have a nice view from the tower at Tate Modern and it is free. Also a nice view is from the observatory in Greenwich park, you can then walk down to the river, next to Cutty Sark is the Greenwich Foot tunnel that leads to the Isle of Dogs. There we have Mudchute Park with a small farm and further North is Canary Wharf with the shopping centre and the office towers. Close to Canary Wharf Station is the Museum of the Docklands, showing the development of London Harbour from the Middle Ages to modern times. A hidden gem in my opinion. Close by is the Thames Clipper landing pier at Westferry Circus. A tour back to Central London takes anything between 40 Minutes and and hour, but is definitely recommended, especially in this hot weather.

Oh, and welcome to London, the greatest city in the world!

Ankh Morpork

If you want something a bit different the cable car by the o2 is good. It’s like £3 ish I think.

There are some Victorian dinosaur statues in Crystal Palace park which I love checking out and there is a free farm there but not sure if it’s open at the moment.

I’m thinking of heading into London tomorrow if I can bare it and will find something to do

In my younger days I used to start in Camden, walking along the canal into Regents Park and down through Central London and along the South Bank to Tower Bridge usually stopping off in a few pubs enroute.

There and to the left a bit

Walk from Tower Bridge along the South Bank to the London Eye and beyond...so much to see along the way...HMS Belfast, The Globe Theatre and things going on on the river etc

Or The Museum Of London at The Barbican which is free and marvellous

Or The Museum Of Childhood at Bethnal Green...equally free and equally marvellous

Essex.

The Sky gardens are free but you have to book online, there are also 2 or 3 military museums that are free.

Leake Street under Waterloo Station is well worth a visit if you like graffiti, just give the artists a bit of room, some of them don't like being watch/filmed too closely.

Google secret London for a few more unusual places to go, many free or very cheap.
