Settle a debate: Snogging

Somewhere off the edge of the map... 'ere there be monsters

Snogging, making out, necking, French kissing... help settle a disagreement between me and the wife.

Now, my argument is that snogging, by it's inherent nature, is a passionate form of kissing. Like, you can't really have, for lack of a better term, 'casual' or 'non-passionate' making out. It turns us on, fires us up, sends all those delicious sparks and jolts from our lips / mouths down into our limbs and our groins.

Now, the wife has never been big into kissing / making out. She finds it a bit weird and awkward. So she says she doesn't really 'get it' or whatever. Her argument is that snogging isn't inherently passionate, and that you can just, for want of a better term, just 'have a casual snog' without it being passionate or getting steamy.

Which one of us is crazy here? Help me out, Fabbers!

Nothing in my opinion, is inherently passionate. Passion comes from the people not the activity. Snogging or whatever you want to call it, a relative stranger is not something that will bring out my passion, I don't even like watching people missing in films or on telly. So I'm with your wife. We're all different and thank God for it.

You're both right. It depends. But if there's no passion then the snog isn't going to last long. Kissing without passion is possible but boring and not fun, but it tells you if you want to give up or go further....

To me it all starts with that first kiss . It tells me wether im going to want to take it further or just leave it at that .

I cant do the not kissing as its the lead up to the rest . So if the lips dont connect well . Well im outta there .

Those involved make it such. 2 people with zero interest in each other can make out/snog without any passion involved. The same as how sex can be passion less and emotionless. Its just an action that on the surface can be faked.

However the difference between the same action with two people are in to it, is completely night and day to the above.

So technically your wife is right on a base level - snogging is not an action that is exclusive to passion. It requires both people to be in to it and be passionate about it to make it such.
