Settle for second choice...relationship wise.

Tongue in cheek question but seriously would you ?

I'm in a position (proper single) where I'd like a permenant partner, been playing for tooooooooo long would love to settle with the right one.

Had lots of offers for the relationship, do you hold out and think she's out there or think this is as good as it gets for me ?

Serious question, feel times running out, feeling a bit low - that's life

I meant to add, I'd rather know she's the only one I had eyes for, I don't wanna look across the pub and think fuck I made a mistake (if you get the meaning)

Personally if I was single and looking, I'd rather stay single than settle for someone.

No I'd not settle, hard as it can be on your own it would be much lonelier with the wrong person.

Best wishes x

Don't settle. And it's never too late to find love and a partner you truly gel with. Stay true to what you want.

After 18 months of looking you really start to lose faith in yourself

I settled but thought It would be ok and it wasn't, so I'd never do it again to myself or someone else

I wouldn't settle.

I was in an unhappy marriage for 18 years and when I left I promised myself that I wouldn't settle because it's also not fair on that person as I wouldn't give them my true self and give them what they deserve.

I was single for over 4 years before finding my now boyfriend and I am so happy for waiting.

I must point out that my life wasn't put on hold as a single lady, I thoroughly enjoyed my time and experiences.

Her x

I have been single for over 10 year as I WILL NOT SETTLE for 2nd best. Rather be happy (ish) single than go through relationship crap if it is not right

If you settle, you’ll only end up single again

I wouldn't give up my singledom to someone I felt I was settling for. It isn't fair on them nor me. I'd hate to learn the object of my desires had 'settled' for me.

In the middle

We were chatting about this at work today, I said no way would I settle or want to be someone’s second best. The problem is actually finding that one person who gives you everything you need, that person that is the ying to your yang, the person who doesn’t quite drive you crazy with all their quirky qualities

Everyone keeps telling me I need a good man to take care of me and I’m kinda like “does he even exist and where is he”

Never settle. You would spend the rest of your life resenting it and her.

Up to you. I’ve never settled for anything in life, no matter what it is. I won’t be second/third/fourth best either. Probably not made things easy for myself along the way but I guess it’s the way I’m made and to

be honest I’m happy with who I am x

Nope I don’t settle for second best. If I can’t be the best I chose not to ‘settle’ for something less

How would you feel to be someone's "second best" OP?

Have some respect for yourself and the other person.

I think most people settle if honest... I think I found the one. It didn't work... now I look at what it is want and honestly don't think it's possible. So I think really most people get attached to someone they think is "as good as they can get". I didn't think I'll bother again, I think you have to grow together and that take so long to "become one".

I'll settle for a meet that will put a little finger in my bum.

If you think a woman is second choice then she isn’t the woman for you. Life is too short to commit to anything other than the best you can have

I don't really understand what you mean by second choice

If I met someone that I fancied and got on with, I'd give it a whirl and see what happened rather than be prone to thinking there was someone better

A5 this point I'd need to be smacked in the face with a hard love punch to settle down. In 15 years time when the kids are gone, my looks have faded and loneliness settles in, who knows.

How do you know your settling? Have you actually given these potential 'second best' options a chance to see if they give you everything.

Its easy to say your settling but a lot of the time, we dont truly give people a proper chance

"A5 this point I'd need to be smacked in the face with a hard love punch to settle down. In 15 years time when the kids are gone, my looks have faded and loneliness settles in, who knows. "

When I say settle, I mean for a relationship that's potentially more friendship than sparks.

where I like to be... down south

I settled once, she gave me 3 amazing children but then she had an affair and fell pregnant from it.... i didn't know till my daughter was almost 3 when the now ex told me while d*unk... i got a dna test to prove her wrong but it turned out to be the only time she had told the truth.

So i walked away heartbroken not for her but for my 4 children (yes I said 4 as I still class the youngest to be my daughter).

Since that day of walking away I vowed to never settle again, but realise this choice will more than likely mean spending the rest of my life single

I should hate to think I had just been settled for! Go for someone who puts fire in your belly or save them the heartache.
