What are profiles for?

Is it just me?

Am I being over the top?

So, there I was in the chatroom tonight - having the usual banter with one or two fun folk...

Then I get a whisper from a stranger just asking "What do you like?"

So I reply, asking him to have a look at my profile, where I've rambled on quite more than is necessary about what I do and don't like...

To which he replies "I never look at profiles - I prefer to get to know a person"....

What?

Is it just me???

For goodness sake - what are profiles for????

(yes - he was asked to go away and eventually I blocked him when he didn't...)

Yeah, I agree, I've written alot in my profile (I've never been any good at editing myself), and I'll often get people, with very little on their profile, asking me what I'm into, and asking me to generally tell them about myself... And when I tell them I've said alot and ask them the same they usually say about 4 words and then ask me again

A world of my own

Lots and lots of people don't read profiles as is obvious from messages they send, whats really annoying is when they put 'Just read your profile..' and they clearly haven't!!

Like you I have put everything about me, what I want/don't want etc...to save people from wasting their time and mine and it makes my blood boil when people just don't bother to read them.

Thanks for listening to my mini-rant...

I feel much better for having seen that the first two responses have come from very interesting people, both with intriguing profile that were worth reading for their own sake!

Thank goodness that there really are interesting people on her that are worth the trouble

Of course profiles should be read, as they should give the basics to what the people want and like from their playmates. Saves loads of time and effort

its the ones that say ASL at the start of chatting that get my back up, I wouldnt dare chat to anyone before reading their profile from top to bottom just to make sure I might be of interest to them, otherwise, you'd be wasting time on both sides.

profiles are just put on the site to eat up some of the serve space or decorationing the plain whiteness of the page, and i think some are quiet pretty too lol
