Walking to work in Newcastle Under Lyme, listening to the radio walking in at 3 or 4am. It took around 5 minutes of listening to the news to the newscaster to finally tell me which famous person had just died in Paris.

Next to 9/11 the biggest news story of my lifetime.

I had just got up from bed on the Sunday morning and the radio was playing weird type of instrumental music and the news flash came on. I was shocked to the core.

Someone said “ I’ve got something to tell you “

He said “ ok but better make it snappy “

I was working a night shift in Harrods,

one of the power generation engineers told us that on teletext, it was reported to Dodi was dead and Diana was critical.

a few hours later after finishing work we found out that she was also dead....

where I like to be... down south

On my way into work (former job) it was a Sunday morning and I was running late.... it came over the radio..... my work mate didn't believe me either, but when it came to getting the papers ready all the usual ones were there except news of the world.... and they all carried the headlines princess di to marry dodi.... then a couple of hours went past and the news of the world paper hit..... they had the full story everyone wanted to know more about but didn't want to believe

Hull

I remember it like it was yesterday...late Sat night/Sun morning 3am walked in from a club eating a burger and turned on TV which flashed up DIANA & DODI HURT IN CAR CRASH..... I ran in to wake Dad up and we both sat on sofa in shock watching it all unfold....i went to lay flowers a week later @ Kensington...was the maddest thing ive ever experienced amongst many 1000s of people paying their respects but it was DEADLY SILENT....very moving and powerful...
