Thinking watching Euro 2012 that if some of the England Teams from the 80's and 90's would win the tournament now.

I only say 80's and 90's because thats when i was growing up watching football then going out after and just kicking the ball about for hours till it was too dark to see.

maybe its looking back with rose tinted glasses but i said England could win now but even thinking about other teams they all seemed better with some really big names thinking Holland,Italy, france and Germany.

Looking to world cups think of Brazil then Zico Falcao etc and now Elano and robinho i could go on with other teams.

So what i should have said is i think football was better when i was growing up than it is now

I still think the Germany and Spain teams are by far superior to any England team i have ever seen.

And then some! Sorry but this thread is rose tinted glasses. England won nothing in the 80s and 90s and they will win nothing this year too. You have just scraped past a Sweden team who are really poor, they would have difficulty beating us Scots and that really says something. England have always been taken apart by international sides such as the Germans, Italians and Dutch, this is for a reason....You are severely over rated. Don't mean to sound harsh, but it's true. Xx

we didn't even qualify for the world cup in 94 or the Euro's in 84

82 world cup we were poor, 86 a tad unlucky but wouldn't have won it. 90 unlucky.98 went out on penalties but again wouldn't have won it.

In the Euros, one disaster after another

Agreed, average at best with a team that battle and have a few stand out players that rarely hit form for us. We get through a lot of games via set pieces and are boring to watch. All I hope for is a string of young talent bring allowed to gel. Those with flair, pace and some good old British fight. It would be nice for our manager and the players at his disposal to do well but to play exciting football seems a step too far.

Germany should take this tournament with their ever impressive production line of talent.

Three great England sides 1966 1976 (beat Scotland 5-1) and euro 96

All the rest were rubbish

Instead of looking backwards regarding England, look forwards. Ox, wiltshire, Welbeck, Sturbridge, hart, Kyle walker, Phil jones, Cahill, Carroll, Micah Richards, young (diving twat), smalling, Henderson, Kieran Gibbs and Rooney has another euros in him.

All young players who will get better and better...

Think making it out of the group stage in Euro 2012 will be an achievement and a good platform to build on so we can qualify for the World Cup 2014.
