That is so difficult.

I would have said at the time Depeche mode as used to listen to them most in the 80s and went to see them about 4-5 times.

Now though, looking back I would say simple minds especially after seeing them a couple of years back and realising just what I had not appreciated so much back then.

Duran Duran were my guilty secret at the time lol.

New order just brilliant.

So - as it's now - simple minds.

A conundrum.

I would stick my neck out and go for any band that had a hit in the '80s (might be controversial because then do you include re-releases from a different decade...?).

Amend that to an original hit that hadn't been a hit for the same group in previous decades.

Amend hit to release. Doesn't have to have been a hit.

And what about solo artists - why just bands?

We really need more details in these questions so we can make a clear and informed desicion...

The only band I saw on that list was Simple Minds, at the height of their career, and I’m afraid they were dull and boring, a real disappointment.

Off the top of my head, and ignoring groups from the 70s that matured in the 80s, the best “80s” band I saw was probably the Funboy Three.

Exactly ! Formed in '69, but first record in '71, so what do we class them as?!

Back on the topic, I'd say Metallica and Guns n Roses. I'd say they're comfortably 80s.

It’s Depeche Mode for me.

Been listening to Absolute radio 60s,70s,80s,90s. All week. Oddly the only decade I had to turn off was the 80’s.. So much utter drivel. 90’s was far better.

yeah I saw them in Irvine ( or was it Ayr maybe?ah think it was ) on the Real Thing tour n we went n met them afterwards ...backstage as it were ....first rock stars ah had met ( ah was a teenager then) n they were really sweet n welcoming
