"England are an ordinary team currently managed by a very good manager. He set the team out the right way, kept them organised for most of the game and made an excellent substitution. They dug deep and were deserving of their win. The only thing England need is for the manager to get the best out of what he has available and he is doing that. Must be difficult for Liverpool supporters to see the manager making the right decisions and getting results lol. Whether this will continue at higher levels against the likes of Spain and Germany we will have to see - but I say - stay positive and keep the faith - Roy Hodgson for God!!" What he said

What he said " yeah ditto... the man been in charge for 4 games and if in the league would be 10 point from 12... ffs give the man some credit. england are known for going ahead then conceding which they did in last 2 games but last night they had a wobble but dragged themselves up and went on to win. ok it gonna be hard against the best but its good to see some new blood and lets be hopeful and get behind the lads.

"I think sweden deserved to win as they were the better team. England were lucky and a fluke goal from Welbeck" Yet the stats don't bear it out..and a fluke goal? If Messi had scored it, it would be on a tape loop on sky and everyone would be crowing about it. England played well, how are Scotland doing in the tournament? ...oh! Wait!

"the welbeck goal wasnt luck mate. it was split-second decision making to guide the ball into the net " Guess we will never know - only Welbeck knows for sure but to me it looked like he was trying to control it - messed up and it went in

"who was man of the match " Don't know but I think the man of the match in the game against France had to be the bloody referee as it was like playing against 12 men!!!

Actually, as a Liverpool fan, I am surprised to see how Hodgeson has handled the job so far. He definately looks more at ease managing England than he was managing Liverpool even allowing for the difficulties there were at the time through the previous ownership. His trying time will be when or if the results aren't going his way and the nation is expecting better results, whereas on this occasion I don't know anyone who thought England would get out of the group. England have looked relaxed and more importantly do seem to be playing as a team. Personally I still can't decide if Welbeck meant it or just got lucky, but tbh I don't care, it was a goal with good football from Johnson & Theo before we "got lucky". Andy Carroll's goal was brilliant as was Waldorfs and I thought Sweden got very lucky with Johnson's own goal. We're going to need to get a bit of luck in game 3, first we have to ensure we qualify ofcourse, but the luck will be to get ahead of France and then to avoid Spain, meaning one of those two will go out in the quarter finals. At this stage no need to get ahead of ourselves though.
