Gabapentin for me.

I saw that they may try anti depressants for pain but I would not like that. I had sertraline for PTSD and it was a horrible for ages.

Use as prescribed. Dangerous if abused.

They are only saying that as with no Brexit deal we will not be able to supply enough In uk.

A step wise approach to pain is always good starting with Paracetamol or ibuprofen.

We will see more over the counter and Pom drugs being in short supply.

As a chronic pain patient I saw this and thought what the actual fuck. Paracetamol is my life. Every 4 hours. It helps the other stronger drugs work when I take them. IV stuff is like liquid gold.

I was on duloxetine for my Fibro pain it did jack shit stick with the gaba if you can. Only think helps me is oxy and they won’t give that out unless your arms hanging off. I’m allergic to codeine.

I decided to stop taking them after a period of about six months. Probably for a month afterwards if not more it was horrible. Someone on here described the withdrawal as like “zaps” physically. I would agree.

Yes Dr. I was on Codeine for about 8 years, but they weren't really that effective anymore, Tramadol is a much better painkiller, but it makes me drowsy and I just end up nodding off in ma recliner

The side effects of ibuprofen and paracetamol is pretty well known, both can cause issues in the long term.

There are better ways of dealing with chronic pain that will suit a good chunk of people that currently take painkillers.

There is always going to be a subset of patents that still need painkillers, but they are tying to move away from painkillers for any type of chronic pain, the stronger painkillers already have some very strict guidance.

These are over the counter anyway so I can't see it changing peoples access to these.

You could try paracetamol and ibuprofen - depending on the pain relief needed

Suggest you always check with a GP or pharmacist

This is new guidance..

May take week if not months for alternatives to filter through.

Your right, these are just draft guidelines. the alternatives will need some time to ramp up. things won't change immediately.

In our experience chronic pain isn't managed well by the medical profession. I can see this leading to lots of bad outcomes for people
