Just wondering if there’s anyone else like me who’s got either a hidden or visible disability of any degree? You don’t need to share what if you don’t need to.

Be interesting to hear how you manage a good sex life and what adaptations you may or may not need.

I have chronic pain (fibromyalgia) and ME/CFS and some other stuff (won’t go into it) so although not visible I’m knackered lol. Day to day varies but when I do too much I’m screwed literally and metaphorically lol. X

It’s important to be talked about and accepted. Disabled people/sick people have sex too lol.

Yep, CFS/ME, have Fibro markers too. I'm still stupidly strong but get tired pretty quickly and suffer for days. Shame that more medical professionals don't recognise it appropriately, worst thing is there are likely to be many more that don't fully recover post Covid.

I don't look at it as a disability cos I'm at a rehabilitative stage of an extremely severe brain infection - so I get tired very easily.

However, I wear hearing aids and have balance problems related to the hearing loss.

Rarely causes any issues but hot tubs or pools in clubs are generally a no no.

I had viral meningitis which was what kicked off my ME. Initially they called it post viral fatigue but because I didn’t recover at all they did some more digging and diagnosed the ME.

Thank you for sharing. Yes water and ear infections and hearing impairments are difficult my first girlfriend was hearing impaired. She had hearing aids and lip reads. X

For me it can interfere with a long term partner more I suppose. It’s the whole not being able to do certain positions or being in pain after or exhausted etc. One night stands I tend to suck it up (not that I have many!). I’ve had shoulder surgery so if I’m being restrained in anyway I have to be careful etc. Like you say you find a way to work around it. Xx

I’m on loads of online support groups and we are inundated of post viral fatigue cases following Covid but they are very different to fibro and ME.

Sorry to hear that. Get an appointment with A good rheumatologist having the diagnosis on paper helps xx

Partner suffers with Fibro. Suffers daily, especially if she had a active day before such as lots of walking etc.

Certain food triggers/makes it worse. Such as caffeine, and taking naps also makes her bad.

Sex life is amazing, just sometimes she can't do everything she wants, such as being on top etc.

Just need to find someone understanding and note down what the triggers are, if there are any. I know Fibro has a a spectrum of severity, so some has triggers some doesn't I guess?

A heart condition and chronic pain from endometriosis. Also fucking knackered all the time or lay with my legs up the back of the sofa trying to ease the aching.

I manage my sex life by being aware of how I can enjoy sex and communicating with my sexual partners. I'm lucky to have people who work with me to make it great for us both. Also bonus points if they'll rub my sore calves and ankles when my pain flares up. My partner says I make sex noises when he does it

There's lots of people with hidden disabilities.

I know many are unaware of mine, as I wear hidden aids and manage the dizziness well most of the time.

I hope it helps people to be more understanding and supportive of those with disabilities, especially less obvious ones.

Me! I became disabled after my last pregnancy, due to pelvic and peripheral nerve injury caused by the growing baby plus a severely prolapsed disc (with massive nerve root compression). I use a wheelchair now for anything other than walking to/from the car because it reduces my pain and means I can go as far as I'd like. I spent nearly 3 years trying to cope on crutches but realised the chair would give me my freedom back. I play wheelchair sports, go out on medium/long pushes with a running club (5-10k and a bit more) and take nerve modulating drugs for my pain.

Sex wise, doesn't affect me much. I can't do standing or squatting but that's about it. I do have reduced sensation but still enjoy sex and cum with someone who knows what they're doing and is patient

proper catch aren't i

try not to let it affect things too badly.. but there's things i just can't do.. Or can only do for a little while.. and either way, I'll be in clip for days afterwards!

Oh I feel ya. I didn’t put my list coz it scares even me. I live with a diagnosis of BPD. It’s all fun and games. Life’s sent to challenge ya hey.

Mental health is also important to talk about.

I also have fibro - it affects me every day, there just aren't enough pain killers in the world.

Fab has given me one area of my life which isn't affected by my fibro - my social life has taken a massive hit because of my fatigue - but with fab I can enjoy sex on my terms, and actually the endorphins definitely help my pain, and helps me forget it for a few hours at least. I will hide my profile when I'm feeling particularly poorly.

I have dyspraxia which is defined as a disability, but I've never considered it a disability. Makes some every day tasks difficult but I can tackle those or find a way to work through them. It's just a part of me.

I have Aspergers. It doesn't tend to effect my/our sex life.

The only real issue is that I can get fixated on something (e.g. an upcoming meet, new toy coming in the post, etc.). On those occasions, Alice needs to give me a loving slap and kinda bring me out of it.

I like being slapped, so it's a win-win!

no it doesnt help at all. I keep saying to hubby he needs something with weights on his chest everyday and see how it pulls him forward. I've lost an inch of my height lol. Not the best place to lose it

I find the term disorder really offensive. It’s a not a disorder it’s the way people with autism are wonderfully wired and unique so prefer the term condition.

I'm not shy, I'm quiet. There's a difference.

I did that to but it only made them wors.

Especially my asparagus.

Now I stopped hideing them and both more my asparagus than dyslexia have gotten a lot better.

Thow my spelling is mostly better down to Alto spell software.

Ouch all sounds like fun and games. Amitryptaline helps with migraines but makes you quite sleepy so might not help the clumsiness. Swings and roundabouts hey!

I have autism , which affects me mentally and socially , I'm very black and white , there isn't no grey ...I struggle to pick up on sarcasm and social cues.....but I'm lovely and easy to talk to and get along with

Yeah I do well to hide it , mind if people know what to look for they usually ask me if I am , which I'm happy to answer and talk about , but yeah as you say youd not really know until I tell people , but yeah I struggle to make friends and maintain relationships but I'm really trying hard to make new friends and maintain regular chatting

I have schizophrenia, anxiety and depression

seen someone mention Raynauds as well

I got that in my finger once

it went black and and i lost the feeling in my finger

thankfully it came back though

still won a pro evo tourney on the playstation with it

H was in the industry for fifteen years until the Dr was fed up with her bad back, sent her off for an MRI & it turned out that at 36yrs old she has degenerative disc disease & Fibro amongst the other stuff she was already dealing with.

We thought the back was just the job & asked if they could fuse the lower vertebrae but it's every disc in her back! it's an hereditary thing & there's nothing to be done except pain relief. She's now walking with a stick at 40 :-/

They are absolutely dreadful aren’t they

Sumatriptan on prescription from docs, cold ice pack on my temples and resting in a dark room is the combination that tends to work for me (only if I catch it in time otherwise the meds don’t work as well). Sumatriptan makes me very drowsy though so I have be at home (preferably in bed) before I take it. Have you been to doctors? x

Yes but with no joy,I didn't get on with sumatriptan and the only thing I have found that helps is syndol from the chemist now they have put the muscle relaxant back in it.

I absolutely dread them though!

Health conditions I'd say, rather than disabilities, but employers etc consider them to count.

I have BPD, bipolar, OCD and I'm a recovering bulimic. These can be pretty severe and have landed me in hospital a few times.

I wouldn't wish them on anyone, but you learn to live with it.

Similar. Someone could be giving me a 'take me to bed or lose me forever' look. Or it could be 'I've had enough, go and bother someone else' tone of voice and I'd struggle to tell the difference! Although I've improved enormously as I've grown older.

Have you tried clubs? They are overwhelming at first but stick with it and you'll be glad you did.

means I can’t kneel or go on all fours for long so have adapted , my late husband had cerebral palsy, one side of his body was mostly in spasm or not working ,, we had a hell of a lot of fun finding the positions that worked for us , including tying his hands up to the bed lol

He never let his disability get in the way of doing something ,

His Moto was I’ll find a way or make my own . I try and live by that x

My fibro makes me beyond tired so sometimes having the Sub do all the work is great lol

I must say that after an initial false start, my employer have been brilliant. Working at home reminds me daily of how accessible my workplace is and my home is not
