...so a friend and I set up a couples profile because we were looking for something quite specific.

Blimey (and I know a lot has probably been said on this). But the volume of shit messages was a bit of an eye-opener. (As a single male I very rarely get any 'first messages'.)

The single word 'hi' messages...I kind of get them...folk with nothing to say. But then the lengthy cut and paste messages...all very similar 'I'm looking to explore with a lovely couple like you' type shit when we had't even put any pics up. I challenged one guy and he said it was because he thought our name was lovely

Anyhow we've deleted it now...but fuck me that was some baptism of bland and dim fire. Don't think they had a veri between them so I woner sometimes why they are here. Maybe the sorts that follow women around in clubs

On the upside, you can see the types of messages that worked and didn't for us are probably the sorts of messages that work and don't work for others.

It's a learn for us...now back to crafting well thought out messages!!

I (Luke) wish all people who wrote to us had something to say, but most think that's not an issue.

Occasionally I respond to a "Hi" with the same thing back. Then they go "How are you?" and we give an equally inane answer. Then they go "What are you up to?" and I'll say "Washing up" or something.

So here's a message to those who think that qualifies as a conversation. Sooner or later you are going to have to say something. At this point I don't even know why I'm bothering so you are about to lose me. Do you actually have anything to say? Have you contacted us with the expectation that I'm going to lead the conversation? Well I'm not, so you'd better have your talking trousers on.

The moral of the story is only contact us if you actually have something to say. I doubt we're alone in thinking that.

We must be very lucky. Most of the messages we get are pretty good, if after a couple of exchanges it seems the conversations not going well we accept we're not compatible. We don't mind a "hi" if someone approached us in a pub like that we'd smile and say "hi" back, if conversation dried up we'd politely extricate ourselves. We don't mind copy and paste either, single men are always being old to "make their first message interesting" not even Shakespeare could craft an individually interesting message every time he contacted someone on here , I'm not surprised that some people use cut and paste. All we ask is that they remember to replace the previous names with ours

I’ve recently decided to reply at least once to all the messages I get, I won’t follow up if I’m not interested in meeting that person or being friends. So far everything going well no nasty ‘time wasting’ or rude replies when I’ve been honest.

Admittedly I don’t think I’d get as many messages as some of the women, couples or even younger tgirls would get, so my admin isn’t as heavy

Bland and desperate comes to mind. We have stopped replying to all the messages we get, since that would be far too time consuming and no fun at all. A simple no thank you isn’t enough for some. Also the amount of messages saying “I’m in your area, fancy a fuck?” No I don’t, I’m not desperate and jump on every pole that’s offered to me!!! Anyway long story short, there a some really nice single men around but sometimes their messages get lost in the masses.
