I tried watching ‘a suitable boy’ it was described in the advert as ‘the best period drama’. It didn’t feel ‘periody’ at all.

Now this is my FAVE genre! I recently watched outlander and Harlots (both fabulous!) Versailles was AMAZING and of course downton was great!

Any other suggestions very welcome please! Xxx

If you missed poldark when it was originally, then the first four seasons are now on Netflix and I really enjoyed them.

Oh and a real ‘girl power’ one is ‘self-made’ about a lady in the 20’s that was the first millionaire making and selling beauty products.

We watched Selma recently which is about the civil rights movement in America during the 60s. We thought it was excellent, and the guy who plays MLK is outstanding.

When you say historical drama, do you mean things set a long time ago like Jane Austen things, or things about historical events?

There and to the left a bit

Not sure if the following count but were all enjoyable and all historical...

Vikings

Band Of Brothers

Boardwalk Empire

Was thinking the other day I must watch Band Of Brothers again was reminded by a documentary I saw about their part in D-Day that in turn reminded me what an excellent series it was

Somewhere In The Ether…

The BBC’s famous and timeless adaption of Pride And Prejudice is probably my all time favourite period drama.

‘Ooooo Mr Bennett - my nerves!’
