Need to hire a car at Bordeaux Airport but everything’s coming in very expensive.

Last time we went we booked in advance but they screwed us over when we got there as we didn’t know the PIN number for the credit card needed for deposit, we then had to pay for full insurance.

Would like to think there would be some post Covid deals but if there are I can’t find any, or could we just turn up & negotiate a deal upon arrival? Anybody care to give me some advice, many thanks in advance. R.

Car advice, in France. No, I can't think of anyone that could possibly help.

to be honest we have found anything travel related except flights have sky rocketed in price.

There are deals out there still but very hard to find and it can be very time consuming.

I travel abroad a lots d hire cars. The biggest saving is to buy an annual policy for additional CDW insurance. It’s great. Yes you have to pay for any excess initially but it’s way cheaper than buying from the hirer. On six trips last year I would have paid about £2750 extra if I had not had an annual policy. They don’t like it when you decline to buy CDW etc but I just show the annual policy and smile! Never had to use it but better safe than sorry!

The other thing is to check deals linked with the airline. The further in advance you book the cheaper the deal. I booked with free cancellation for a car last September for February in Italy for two weeks cost me less than €6.00 a day, at the same time booked two weeks in Eire and that came in at about €5.00 a day
