"You should have something strong and full bodied, like me Is that an offer to come and be my waiter and pour the wine? How would like to drink the wine from the channel between my abs?" Sounds like it could be fun...can you also put a candle somewhere about your person for my birthday?

"Lovely people of Fab, I'd like your recommendations please. I'm going to stay in a cute little shepherd's hut in the middle of nowhere in a couple of weeks - not exactly how I'd envisaged spending my birthday, but I need a break from my house after working from home since March. Because it's my birthday, I'm going to be completely indulgent - good food, new book, and nice wine. Which is (hopefully) where you come in - tell me what your favourite wine is please, I want to try something new I like a nice fruity red, nothing too heavy. I don't think white or rose will do for this trip because there's only a tiny fridge. " Well, it’s quite a subjective thing but, personally I really like Morande Reserva ‘One to One’ Pais.

I'll have o look at the Rioja..thank you x

"My favourite affordable wine is Valpolicella Amarone. However it is strong and full-bodied 15% alc. I also really like Valpolicella Ripasso which is a bit lighter. Aldi do good bottles of both of them last time I was in at very reasonable prices and Majestic’s are really good too but more expensive." Ooh, the lighter one sounds good, I'll check it out. Thank you

"Another recommendation for Campo Viejo Rioja over here, but the Aldi version is very drinkable too. In fact most Aldi wines are good for their money! Oh and enjoy the hut, it sounds amazing " I think I may have had that one before actually - yellow label if I'm thinking of the right one. Thank you, I'm really looking forward to it

"Isnt there some unspoken rule that the perfect price to pay for a bottle of wine is about £10 as the more expensive stuff basically isnt worth the extra value??" Actually, one of the best wines that I've ever had was at a monastery in France - you had to take your own bottles for them to fill up, it cost €1 a bottle, and it was bloody lovely

"Oh at last a thread on my chosen specialist subject There are some great wines out there some of them well priced and some well over priced as a red lover ( I like Chilean, Italian and some French) Top picks right now Tesco amarone de valpoechello ( not the finest one) £14 If you have a majestic Then there are rear wines Cantina de Negra apassemento £10.95 Catena Malbec or if you are feeling posh Catena Alta Nero Ora apasssemento Sicilians great value Chateau greivier Villa Sandi merlot, Bepin de eto merlot these two can be hard to find they are both merlots from the Prosecco region of Italy which keeps the price really low for a quality wine If toy like a bit of fizz then broom de eto Prosecco is one of the best produced And for a rose it has to be Sicilian Santa tresa organic rose Got lots of others that are great too Get the Vivino app and when you are unsure about a wine in a shop you can scan the label and it will give you a score tasing notes the price you should be paying " Wow, thank you. I'll definitely download that app
