“It is what it is” I really hate that one but I find myself saying it now along with a thousand other “management” phrases, I swore that I wouldn’t get drawn into that kind of thing when I went into management but it sneaks up on you without even realising it grrr

It's always in the last place you look. Why would you keep looking after you found it?

Or when you’ve lost something: “Well... Where did you see it last?” .... helpful. Thanks.

You know that what ever follows, is the person being an arse.

Eg

The most passive aggressive phrase in the world

That one really annoys me too, the most pointless phrase ever

Wimborne

To assume is to make an ass out of u and me.

That drives me bloody nuts, so much so that I avoid the word in conversation in case it gets said because I may be up on a murder charge afterwards.

To be fair.

Which usually preceeds someone being totally and utterly unfair in their next statement.

In my humble opinion.

Well that is never ever going to be followed up by a humble opinion, more like a biased bigoted pile of poo.

Yes! So true, and I'm full of self loathing when I find myself saying it.

The other one I hate is "Soz". I usually reply "Yes, you are obviously so f*****g sorry that you can't be bothered to say the whole word!".

I'm not usually that ranty...

This one for me as well, reminds me of enduring a season of love island as Mrs had it on and it’s all they said

It’s not so much a phrase or saying, but people who start a sentence with the word ‘so’, drives me nuts.

"We are where we are" is a similar one. A tautology, I believe it's called.

The one that gets me is when a TV chef is telling you to put some herb or spice into what you are cooking and instructs you to put in "not too much".

"Too much" is, by definition, the wrong amount. Nobody is sitting there thinking "I wonder how much of this I should put in. I know. I'll put *too much* in. That sounds about right."

"Not too much" is a pointless instruction. Obviously you shouldn't put in too much.

Ya beat me to this one. I watch Pointless and The Chase, the amount of contestants who answer pretty much every question with "So I live in a kennel" or "So I work in accountancy"
