A friend of mine tells me that when Supermarket home shopping vans are replaced, the units on the back of the trucks are sold on & people use them as storage/sheds etc.

I know different shops have different ones but they’re all fairly similar in size, does anybody drive one or have some idea what size they might be?

Many thanks.

I would imagine in truth that the storage box is removed from the older chassis cab & remounted on a new vehicle to save cost & waste materials. Minor refurb & a new vinyl wrap & you'd be none the wiser the back wasnt new. The deboxed chassis cabs can then be sold on to have tipper backs etc mounted on them.

Blackpool, Aberdeen, Leeds, Sheffield

Probably not so much supermarket delivery vans as they are bespoke bodies with racks inside, it tends to be more common to find Luton van bodies or fibreglass bodies from things like BT vans that are sold on for re-use as they can be used as sheds or other storage. The ones used for many supermarkets are just roller shutter sides with racks in, much lower and designed to fit their size of box, with a more limited appeal for re-use I would think.

Most lease the vans so they go to auction, smaller companies re chasis the boxes depending on condition of course . Are you wanting it to be freezer spec or just a box ?

No it’s just to be used as a garden shed.
