Does anyone own property abroad?

Im considering buying a second house in next year or two, and think it be much more fun to buy it in spain so i had a bit of a holiday home.

What are your experiences? hard work or worth it?

Yes I have a place in Milan. It can take a lot of time buying in Italy and my best advice would be to get the best surveyor you can and lawyer to ensure the process works smoothly. Local areas also have quite high taxes dependent on who is buying property.

We are presently at our place in Spain, (Puerto de Mazarron) on the Costa Calida.

We bought it about a year ad a half ago, its a beautiful part of Spain, and I researched many different areas for a year before that. Its a beautiful part of Spain, good value for money, (90 thousand euro for a 3 double bedroom, with roof solarium and terraces. The area is spotless, excellent selection or tapas bars, restaurants down at the port and marina, blue flag beaches one after the other. Have a look there.

North Bucks

There is a decent ex pat forum to use that will be of help to avoid some of the pit falls. Google will bring it up no bother.

I inherited mine. I pay a reputable property agent to keep on top of the rent and maintenance for me so it more or less runs itself. First couple of years I made the mistake of not keeping enough weeks free for myself to use it but I soon learnt.

Cardiff

Had a place in Portugal for 10 years

Ok, high service charges

Most holidays spent doing DIY

Nightmare to sell

But good family memories made

Would I buy abroad again, no!

Yeah. My advice. Use an English solicitor.
