My first message always includes a 25 page lifestyle questionnaire plus a link to MENSA backed IQ evaluation, takes 3 hours & costs £150.

The candidate will only be considered if required levels are met.

Been going for a few months now & still a bit quiet. I blame Covid.

I seem to attract very intelligent men on Fab even though i am not the brightest button in the box. A bit like Bridget Jones and Mark Darcy. I just be myself and never put on airs or graces but obviously opposites can attract as i have made some very good friends on here.

I remember a social meet we had with a couple, many years ago. The guy claimed he could talk about anything. He did. All evening he bored us rigid with his views and how clever he was, which he wasn't. His wife didn't speak a word all evening. Needless to say, we didn't take things any further.

Completely agree. Intelligence comes in many forms - emotional, social, academic... probably many more. I was kidding about the PhD. Although that’s an impressive achievement too.

Emotional intelligence is often ignored when it comes to academic prowess and the qualifications gained from study. To show empathy at the right moment, stop talking when you should listen, make someone feel loved and wanted, that to me is the ultimate intelligent test.

Even my real life experience will make me different to someone else who experienced the exact same ones. Even qualifications aren't the same one person may be able to repeat knowledge as a parrot an other able to problem solve better. You can't define either kind of intelligence same as beauty it's all subjective.

To give a more serious answer to the question - there are multiple facets to intelligence. I’d be looking for academic intelligence in a work colleague or employee as my field demands that sort of knowledge and competence. In a partner, I’m looking for emotional and social intelligence - with these qualities it doesn’t really matter to me what level of education they have.

My partner and I are the perfect example of this. I’ve been to uni 3 times and I’m educated to PhD level; my partner left school after GCSEs and joined the military. So academically we’re in vastly different place. But in terms of social and emotional intelligence, we fit perfectly and complement one another. In fact, in many ways he’s far more intelligent than I am in a “life experience” sort of way - the sort of intelligence that 12 years in the military gives you. So I don’t think you can say intelligence is a one dimensional construct...

For me it is about connection and resonance. It has already been said that there are multiple intelligences and frames of reference that come into play when we relate to each other. There are certain aspects of different individuals that resonate more or less with me and that can also change over time as my frame changes. I find those that I connect most deeply with is at an emotional or spiritual as well as a mental connection.

Intelligence comes in so many different forms, the most intelligent people I know have no common sense. I prefer someone that engages my mind which I would discover quite early on rather than someone I judge or who would judge me on intelligence

The joy of conversation, depending on how much they give away. I like a bit more of a spiritual thing (man) than an outright intelligence, I can keep up with most things until it gets to maths, then you had best have a pretty smile too because I shall just be watching your lips work and not listening.

I do find that many are very intelligent in their respected field of work or study. Yet when it comes to making common sense decision's they appear to handle them with difficulty.

When they would suggest more or less the same solution to any problems...

When they would answer questions with the exact same answers as you'd answer

When you're thinking something and a second later she says out the exact same thing ..ie..you're both having a drink and you're thinking to yourself that the music playing in the background is pure crap ,next thing she says to you " fuck that music is crap "

If you're driving and a song comes on the radio ,one that you'd usually turn up even more and she turns it up before you even get a chance to

... absolutely brilliant feeling.. knowing that lady is everything that you'd need .want.. desire..like ye were both programmed for each other ..

I guess once you start chatting and getting to know each other it becomes fairly obvious if they have the intelligence you are looking for.

But, intelligence isn't just limited to one type of intelligence. I've known of people who are smart and highly educated and most people would describe them as intelligent, but when it comes to life they are very out of touch with reality. And to me, that isn't intelligence, but to some people that will be the intelligence they look for.

To me, intelligence is curiosity, an open mind, someone who is able to relate and understand, someone with common sense and knowledge. A person who has the ability to debate, discover, listen and learn as they go through life. Someone who has a strong head on their shoulders and a positive outlook.

A person who has the ability to debate, discover, listen and learn as they go through life. Someone who has a strong head on their shoulders and a positive outlook.

Its relatively easy here. You can get to know someone easily based on what they chose to post and how simple or complicated they keep it. I prefer the latter.. dont like repetition and predictable people. Then there is something else such as emotional intelligence.. and many people claim to have it but "in the laundry" it turns out that they are too stuck/stubborn in their views to evolve or hold my attention. Or maybe it is just lack of compatibility? Not a question of levels. Best to move on and not waste each others time.

I don't think you can knowingly look for people you click with - you either do or you don't.

It's not necessarily about intelligence either it's an indefinable connection and chemistry that just falls into place naturally - I've had conversations with people with degrees and doctorates that have been stilted and awkward, and conversations with people with no qualifications and what *some* (not me) would consider "lesser" positions in life that just flow naturally and pleasurably.

Not in my experience - and those that don't I just take it as a sign that we're not well matched...there are plenty that do though...everyone I have met I've "got to know" through exchanging messages first - it's just a question of finding those that are looking for the same as you

Reading most of the posts on this thread, it seems we hold very similar views on 'intelligence'.

Just to sum it up it's not about how you conduct yourself in your professional life or how little or more qualification's you have achieved.

The 'intelligence' between two people or more is about connection and chemistry and how comfortable we make each other feel when we are in each other's company. It is about how we treat other's who are blessed with different levels of 'intelligence' without making them feel inferior or superior.
