"Yoga pants, sleeveless top, good bra or sports bra, no make up and a good pair of trainers " Really! I’d get away with no make up? I don’t wear any 90% of my life - not even to work ... Why am I over thinking this? X

"No knickers under yoga pants. No seriously Your gym gear in your profile pics is great. Concentrate on decent foot wear, as that's the most important thing." That was in my own garden... dressed for my husband to Perve.... The idea of others looking at me terrifies me. And I don’t look like that at moment either! Hence why I need urgent remedy! X

"Thank you so much for your ‘supportive’ comments You’re right! I just want comfort- but I dread the thought of looking like a sweaty mess (which I do when I work out). It’s like I’m stuck. I need to try and kick start something- and hope a short membership may give me that freedom... try it out at least... But then I’m terrified of what the media portray women look like in the gym!" If you go to a gym that is fully inclusive, there won't be many super fit women in shorts and crop tops. I will be going back to my gym soon. There's all sizes and ages and it's really friendly. Everyone is there to exercise. Most women don't wear makeup. Everyone looks like a sweaty mess if they're doing it properly... If you are unsure, ask to have a look round first.

"What you're comfortable in. Everyone sweats at the gym. A glowing face is better than make up running down your face. And... tbh... does it matter what everyone else thinks? Everyone is there to do some exercise! Just focus on what you're doing and sod everyone else! " You’re logic is sooooo right! And I will ensure to remind myself of your support when I’m there... or at least trying to take those first steps through the door. Fancy going with me and nudging me through door? Hellllllp! X

X" *virtual gentle nudge, and a sneaky bum pinch* You'll be fine! Maybe have a little plan in your head what you'd like to do when you're there, then you have something to occupy you. Give yourself a minimum time you HAVE to stay for, even if it's 20 minutes. Then go from there

" Men do you really notice women? Will I be able to sneak in and not be noticed? Do you wear make up? I don’t wear it normally when I work out and dread to think I would need to when going to the gym. Am I overthinking this? I need some gentle encouragement here... Mrs P x " I dont train in commercial gyms, the gyms I train at are focused on strength sports, mostly powerlifting. What is interesting in the mix of people, theres a lot of big guys training for strength and middle aged women trying to change their physique. We have a very good female coach who attracts these ladies. At first they feel nervous about training in such a testosterone fuel environment, but unlike commercial gyms where most guys are there to look good and check out the girls, these guys are only interested in getting stronger. It's also a very supportive environment, no one cares how much you can lift or what you look like but will respect anyone who puts in the work. I'd definitely recommend hiring a powerlifting coach and finding a specialist gym. Dont be fooled into thinking heavy weights will make you big and bulky, that's down to diet. Calorie deficit and 3 to 4 times a week weight training will strip off the unwanted weight quick and tone you up to. Daddy

"I'm a bit of a chubster and wouldn't be seen dead in a little crop top! I wear high waist Nike sports leggings (I have long and cropped) plus a sports t-shirt that wicks sweat - not skin tight but a bit fitted. I have an Under Armour one and one from M&S's sports range. I tried Decathlon, but their XL women's t-shirt was so tiny, it would maybe have fitted a size 10?! My experience as a bigger woman plus a wheelchair user is that no-one else gives a crap and they just focus on their own work out. " Oh thank you for your honesty at finding some clothing so ridiculous in sizes... me too! Ok- so try not to give a fuck as no one else is? X

I wear the XL Nike leggings and L/XL Under Armour top. My M&S is dress sized so I got an 18 for less fitted. Very few wheelchair users are found in gyms (shame actually), but no-one has commented, pointed or even initiated much conversation. I have no idea if the huge PT guy I work with has anything to do with that, but I see women and men of all ages and sizes just getting on with their own thing. Take the plunge!

"Gosh! Yet again, the women (and men) on this site have blown me away by your support and kindness! Thank you for everyone’s gentle and compassionate comments. Ok- I’m doing it! I’m off to join for a month and see how I do. I will try to take everyone’s positive thoughts with me... which I am certain I will need to take me through the doors and walk towards that first machine... Oh gosh! Big steps xx" Good luck

"The sexiest thing a girl can wear is confidence! You go to the gym to work out, so wear something that allows you to do that- no other considerations are necessary! Girls that gym for fitness and wellbeing deserve respect- there's too much nonsense these days. The gym isn't for Instagram and posing, and that applies no matter what gender you are. "

A totally different vibe but still other people around to pull you along. Chin up xxx
