I wouldn't say I blush much, but I can be reduced to a sobbing mess by compliments. Genuine heartfelt ones.

After many many years of being put down with criticism and being made to feel worthless yet knowing deep down I'm not being the favoured form of communication by those in my life in my formative years and one LTR, I struggle to process heartfelt compliments and I also struggle to process some criticism. Criticism of character mainly.

I don’t blush often, but I was at a party and bent over to pick up something off the floor and let go of a rip snorter of a fart that echoed round the room despite music playing. The whole room fell about laughing. I am pretty sure I blushed then.

REAL compliments make me blush. Not the empty ones, but the real ones that come from the heart.

If I can tell someone really means it I can blush stupidly or be reduced to tears. After years and years of looking after everyone else and not looking after myself very well if someone sees ME and tells me what they see with genuine compliments and affection it breaks me more than a little. X
