50 Shades--Of two faced people!

Back of Beyond

OK who's read or reading the trilogy of 50 Shades?

Have to admit I have not, but apparently the storyline involves a 17year old virgin being drawn into being a submissive to a dominant bdsm master.

The books of course involve lots of sex.

Now every woman in our open plan office is raving about these books and how sexy they are. Karen says its all over Facebook as well.

But its an indictment of society that they are happy to read and discuss sex like this in book form. Yet if you were to tell them you were a swinger and have sex with different people most weekends. Those same people would be totally outraged!

I know my manager found out about us several years ago. I was dragged into her office and told to my face how morally repugnant she felt about us both!

She would happily have sacked me on the spot if she could prove what she had heard. Of course I had the last laugh when I saw her turn apoplectic with rage, my parting shot was that I was not the only one in her department with this lifestyle, there were two others as well (of course I didn't mention who they were!)

I've read the books. And found them fun to read. But yes peoples views are very different. Afew of my friends know what I get upto. While they talking about what happened in the book. One said i'd love to get taken into a room like that. As in the play room. I turned nd said the only thing stopping you, is you.

Although i don't live that lifestyle. I do enjoy some of the aspects of it.

Novels like these usually lead women to expect more than they'd get.

Fiction: "and he carried her to a large king bed and kissed passionately while his hands were gently moving up he rinner thigh.."

Reality: "oh rite luv, bend over!, DADDYS HERE!"

it is if they feel it will bring the company into disrepute

although her personal feeling should have been kept out of it.

I am not sure that the female in the book is as young as 17, she is a college graduate in the US, not sure what age they graduate.

Also, books are fantasy, not real life so they make it easier to deal with the subject matter.

talking about the sexlife of friends and colleagues is a totally diferent ball game

Haven't read the books and don't intend to as they won't compare to a day in my life.

Besides, I've been making use of Wickes, Homebase and B&Q for years...you'd be surprised what I've hung from brackets.

I lost interest when I found out they were only fiction so I will be one person who won't be reading it, besides I've no interest in reading about some old man seducing a young girl and I am surprised that people in my day job, given their comments over the years, are reading and enjoying it.

As to anyone outside of here knowing that I swing, no they don't and personally its my business, not theirs. There is enough comments made when they find out a tenant is swinging never mind a member of staff

I've read and enjoyed all 3 books. Ladies in the office & on facebook are loving it because to them, with their vanilla sex lives, its adventurous and ultimate fantasy. The lead character is gorgeous, mega loaded and sweeps her off her feet...a modern day Mills & Boon with sex. But it stays as fantasy, thats why its exciting to them.

Now us lot, with our liberated life styles, who actually DO tie people up and have frequented various 'red rooms of pain'...although I enjoyed the books the fantasy didn't get my head spinning quite so much. Because a lot of it I can make reality by a visit to Partners

I agree. To your average, vanilla sexed lady, the books probably were a bit racy and exciting. Knowing that could get what's in the book, and so much more, in any one of the clubs available to us, made the books enjoyable.....but tame.
