"Frequent bonfires are considered a nuisance. And I'm sure that the government has advised against bonfires during the pandemic. I'm not sure why you'd need to have them that often. " And bbqs are not comparable to the smoke from burning rubbish!

"Plus a bit of pr. Tell your neighbours you didn't intended to annoy them and your hiring a skip and no more burning. Takes the heat away from any arguments and you respect their perspective. You ruddy arsonist " Lol for those that didn’t read we can’t get a skip delivered as we don’t own the front and we live on a main road on a bus stop. I appreciate that people comments about washing but we did check with our immediate neighbours but this neighbour is 3 doors down. I can understand that he would be annoyed but shouting at us isn’t going to help and calling the fire brigade on a 999. We have decided that we will let the heat burn down for a week or so and not do any burning. Most of it was done anyway. I appreciate people views and I agree both parties could have dealt with it differently but we thought we had done everything we had needed to; our neighbours hardly speak to us anyway and we just felt this guy had got the arsehole and was really rude about it

Depending on the wind direction it can travel quite far. So perhaps you need to widen your notification net next time. Also, I don't understand why the fire brigade told you to put it out of it was contained, watched at all times and within your local bi laws?

"Could you hire a "man with a van" for an hour to take stuff to the tip ? I'm not suprised your neighbours complained. It is a horrible smell, especially if you are drying washing or gardening or sitting outside. " This^^^^ T

"Could you hire a "man with a van" for an hour to take stuff to the tip ? I'm not suprised your neighbours complained. It is a horrible smell, especially if you are drying washing or gardening or sitting outside. " This is the ideal solution! Loads of our “handyman” type people in the area are happy to do trip visits for a small price. Frequent burning/fires is a massive nuisance for your neighbours, the smell travels and means windows have to stay shut or it stinks everyones houses out too

"Over the last 2 weeks we have been using a gardern incinerator to burn some wood and papers we had in our shed, and remove the shed. Not every day and only for a maximum two hours often being an hour. This is a small bin sized metal container, we have had water buckets nearby to put out the flame We had checked the local council byelaws as well and asked our direct neighbours as we live in a terrace. if they had any issues and if they did we would be careful of when we burnt. The fire is being looked after by one person. We don’t have a car, and are unable to get a skip delivered due to not owning the front garden and access issues Anyway on Saturday a person that lives 3 doors down shouted saying are you going to burn every day and your burning plastic and it smells and started to become abusive. We hadn’t burnt anything on Friday , and we were finishing in 30 mins time. This then caused an argument between ourselves and them and 2 other neighbours got involved as well. The neighbour in question began to record us then called 999 to say there was a fire and we had a fire engine full of fireman tell us to put it out. Which we did but felt that we were pressurised by the fire bridgade obnoxiousness. Now whilst I can understand that the neighbour may have been unhappy. He could clearly see we are dismantling the shed. He could have knocked and asked the questions rather than shout and become abusive, or even put a note through the door. We have even put a note in his door to apologise and ask for a compromise to say we will do only two/ three times a week - during and no more than 1.5 hours, and not do it at the weekends, avoiding breakfast and dinner times which we were anyway. We have yet to receive a response. We have lived in our house for 40 years probably had no more than 10 bbq in that time, with maybe 2 bonfires outside of the last 2 weeks. The cheeky twat even had the audacity to have his own bbq on Sunday. I am wondering what other people would do in a similar situation. We checked legally what we could do, we checked with our Direct neighbours and because of one person we feel now we can’t have even a bbq or a small bonfire because he will get upset!!!! " Rip it down and then pay out for rubbish clearance at the end no need for a skip then. The smell off burning treated woods such as sheds is awful

"Tbh maybe that was our mistake we should have widened our neighbours. But after 1 to 2 hours a day for 9 days in 14, we would hope if anyone that did have an issue either knocked or put a note through the door We have never burnt anything before so assumed it was ok. We have learnt from this experience. " I would be pissed off if you were my neighbours and had that many bonfires, the law is you can have a bonfire as long as its not a nuisance to anyone else.

" Yeah, I wouldn't mind late at night as much on a cool evening. That way neighbours can close windows and rather than 1-2 hours, get most of it done in one go. Whether it's 1 hour or 6 hours, it's still gonna stink so smash it out as much as possible at once that way it causes less disruption and upset to everyone

"Can we give the op less criticism?! after all he's tried his best under the circumstances and asked for help. Hope the positive solutions have helped op, " It’s fine honestly. We did try to do things by the book checking council website, only burning wood and paper and keep it to a minimum and inform our close neighbours. Plastics and other rubbish has been bagged up. Like I said there was no way to get a skip as we live on a main road and we don’t own the front garden so therefore we have nowhere to put the skip. Also there is a massive tree and bus stop outside that would mean we could not get to the front garden even if we wanted a skip To make things clear we would never burn things normally and in the 40 years or living it is the first time, and we had done what we believe was due dillegence Like I said we maybe made a mistake, w heave apologised to our neighbour by letter saying sorry for misunderstanding

"For those that have said a van or car - I would totally agree but we don’t have a car and haven’t had one for 10 years, also in addition to that our local tip says that a van is commercial waste and decides to rob you blind. In addition you can only book a slot online 26 hours in advance. So even if you had got a car to hire you would have to hire it out for 2 days and then hope a slot was free the next day " A man with a van or even the local council may remove it for you. T
