Never been fishing before in my life but thought I'd give it a bash. Almost chucked it in the sea because I dont have a fucking clue what I'm doing! Kids were doing my tits in too!

It was probably the tits cheeping away that put the fish off. Never take birds fishing. Lesson learned!

Torquay

You don't really need to know what you're doing the fish won't, cast, leave it there for a while reel it in and go home happy but empty handed, about the norm for sea fishing I think unless you have a boat

Where you fish from makes a difference

What type of rod

Reel

Bait

I spin for bass

If you catch one the bug will bite you

I like my lure fishing rod

I don't go often but when I do I lure fish for perch and pike then switch to bread if I see a big carp

I like being mobile.

That's my advice to New anglers.

A small lure fishing rod lets you have mobility and it's easy to start/end quickly and you don't struggle carrying all that nonsence

Sea fishing requires sea fishing equipment. You will destroy freshwater rod/reel in the sea because the saltwater

You have to toss the dangly end in the sea and hope something hangs on.
