A grand for a parrot yet a budgie is only £20 quid or less! WHY??

Can you hatch your own if you get an egg and how much are eggs?

Well a budgie lays more fertile eggs than a parrot.. its about 100quid a parrot egg with no guarantee of hatching !!

u could probably get a young parrot for about 500 if you really shop around and then u can use it for breeding..

I would love a penguin but you need a big fridge and a tank and they dont sell them so you have to get dodgy ones.

I like parrots though they talk and stuff hatching no but incubator might be possible if cost isnt bad as i know a man who does chickens

I get pins n needles if i stand too long so it would be pretty impossible for me to do.

My brothers next door neighbour put his macaw outside on a perch to sit in the sun.

My brother's cat got it and dragged it over the top of a high wooden fence and in through the catflap, needless to say the bird was dead as it's neck had been broken bouncing off everything between the perch and the kitchen floor.

The neighbour tried to charge my brother several hundred pounds to replace it ..... my brother's answer was who the fekk puts the parrot outside on a perch in the first place?!

Plenty of parrots in rescue centers that people have got bored with..

They are very long lived sensitive birds who live with families then get dumped because they happen to bite or the owners decide they are allergic.

If you buy in a pet shop there is a huge mark up.. ( a french bulldog was 1400 in the pet shop ) a parrot is maybe 800

buy from a breeder its half the price.. everyone expects a mark up i suppose.

I have an outside aviary for mine they go out in the day when the weather is good.

I have had two of mine twenty years they are a life long commitment so therefor not so expensive. My old boy is still learning new things whistles and words every day they are very loving funny moody I love them so much

the joy they give us daily. amazing creatures.

I came down one morning to find my little black headed caique hanging upside down on his perch.. only 4 years old. It was very sad but made us giggle too.

A guy is browsing in a pet shop and sees a parrot sitting on a little perch. It doesn't have any feet or legs. The guy says aloud, "Geez, I wonder what happened to this parrot?"

The parrot says, "I was born this way. I'm a defective parrot."

"Holy crap," the guy replies. "You actually understood and answered me!"

"I got every word," says the parrot. "I happen to be a highly intelligent, thoroughly educated bird."

"Oh yeah?" the guy asks, "Then answer this -- how do you hang onto your perch without any feet?"

"Well," the parrot says, "this is very embarrassing but since you asked, I wrap my weenie around this wooden bar like a little hook. You can't see it because of my feathers."

"Wow," says the guy. "You really can understand and speak English can't you?"

"Actually, I speak both Spanish and English, and I can converse with reasonable competence on almost any topic: politics, religion, sports, physics, philosophy. I'm especially good at ornithology. You really ought to buy me. I'd be a great companion."

The guy looks at the $20,000 price tag. "Sorry, but I just can't afford that."

"Pssssssst," says the parrot, "I'm defective, so the truth is, nobody wants me cause I don't have any feet. You can probably get me for $20; just make the guy an offer!"

The guy offers $20 and walks out with the parrot.

Weeks go by. The parrot is sensational. He has a great sense of humor, he's interesting, he's a great pal, he understands everything, he sympathizes and he's insightful. The guy is delighted.

One day the guy comes home from work and the parrot goes, "Psssssssssssst," and motions him over with one wing. "I don't know if I should tell you this or not, but it's about your wife and the postman."

"What are you talking about?" asks the guy.

"When the postman delivered the mail today, your wife greeted him at the door in a sheer black nightie."

"WHAT???" the guy asks incredulously. "THEN what happened?"

"Well, then the postman came into the house and lifted up her nightie and began petting her all over," reported the parrot.

"NO!" he exclaims. "And she let him?"

"Yes. Then he continued taking off the nightie, got down on his knees and began to kiss her all over...."

Then the frantic guy demands, "THEN WHAT HAPPENED?"

"Damned if I know. I got a hard-on and fell off my perch!"

I'm not keen on birds and have never owned one.

Parrots are pretty colours, which is their saving grace but apart cfrom that I'm sure I'd find them irritating.

The talking ones, well its not really talking is it. They say the odd word in that electronic type of 'birdy' way and do a lot of squaws and whistles, so you can't really get a clear understanding. If they spoke in clear sentences in a Sean Connery accent then I'd be more interested.

if there too dear by a penguin, you can get 9 in sainsburys for a pound at the minute,they dont eat anything and if there naughty there easy to train,just threaten it with a hot cuppa

You get what you pay for with exotic animals and birds. If you want one then go to a professional breeder/seller and talk first before buying. Parrots need lots of interaction though and really need to be able to get to of cages so think twice before getting one.

Our parrot (we are the third generation to have him) is 64 and we believe they can live into their eighties and so are a huge commitment but also great fun.

His speech is fantastic and he says lots of things and also mimics household sounds and I now have no need to tell the dog off as the bird does it for me including "go on, off to bed, good boy" and then laughs! Just need to get him to tell the kids to tidy up now.

Fabulous I dont think people can imagine the length of time they live.

I would have to send the cockatoo to a sanctury when we die as she is extremely needy and the kids arent keen .. she really needs to be an only bird . Three greys really need to be passed on My baby one now 12 is hilarious loves to cuddle and has a fantastic nature.

Well done you that you all looked after him so well.

I have a parrot that I adopted after it had been passed from owner to owner have had him 5 years now and he is still a moody bugger! he's not friendly to men and is a seed junkie! but I love him all the same even when he Is telling me to.fuck off
