We’ve only been here for a few months but have seen so many threads repeated with the same questions repeated over and over sometimes with only a few hours between them.

Do you search the forums to see if your question has already been answered.

Are the same questions asked because new members are joining all the time?

FAB fatigue or is it forum fatigue?

Gives me an opportunity to take the piss and use the same old jokes over and over again!

This is very meta as I'm sure this is also an often repeated thread!

It's because new people are joining in all the time and often even older forum contributors might have a slightly different take on the same question.

I think it's also a way for new people to get involved

I think sometimes posting a thread is perhaps less about having your “question answered” and more about the interaction with others in the process of exploring your question... Which you wouldn’t get if you simply searched the forums. (If that makes any sense!)

I use it as a way to look clever..you know like I know all the answers.

I can seem like I've got it all figured out

That's a very intellectual answer....I'm not sure we can continue to be friends now! x

Actually makes a lot of sense

I agree it can get repetitive but i try to give consideration to newbies as they may not know the forum functions such as searching for previously asked questions.

So if it's a thread where previously I have gone into detail on my advice for example foot worship then I will search for my previous advice and copy it into the latest thread to save re-typing.

Other times I might bypass the thread and read another. A lot of the threads are repeats and even some of the more fun threads if done too frequently get boring and I don't bother participating for a while.

The best approach to have is to only get involved in those threads which interest you, skip the others rather than posting for the sake of it. That's what I do anyway.

It makes for a richer more informative experience doesn’t it... being involved yourself in exploring a topic or question. For me, anyway.

Definitely this, I remember feeling it when I first posted about marmite.

Yep. I really don't like it when people say "Google is your friend" or similar. The fora are about han interaction and questions are the foundation of good conversation.

ps Google will never be anybody’s friend, its an Internet search engine

Makes sense. I'll do a thread to get interaction and see which way it goes - I aim to make them open ended and get people's imagination going

There's only so much you can do on a basic text only forum. But sometimes constraints can lead to inventiveness

I don't understand intelligence. I prefer piss takes and banter.....with lots of filth chucked in.

Treat the forum the same as with profiles - just skip if they don't interest you.

It does occasionally piss me off a bit when someone not very imaginative pinches someone elses thread idea to make themselves look good.

I did one on cars once, completed it in 40 odd minutes, and literally within thirty minutes someone else did the same thread again....

I did one the other day on "I don't often say this...." and then within five minutes someone else did one with the exact same title, even down to the same number of dots in the title - what's that about then, bloody weird?

Also when someone pinches yours and does a part 2, or when ppl name drop you in the title because the think it'll lend them some status, what's that about?

Tiny rant complete....

This also^ All mine are kinda open and more studying the individual people involved than any question. Bit like a chat in a pub....

La la land

Yeah it can be repetitive, but there are some who really try and think of something different to discuss. And I personally think there's more interesting topics to be had on here at the moment. There's always room for the repetitive ones as it gives easy access to the forum to newbies who may not have confidence to go jump in with the bigger debates

The Ramones said the music they played was the type of music they wanted to hear on the radio.

Post threads you want to see posted and see how it goes.

The Ramones, I had forgotten all about them. I may have to google them. I so know the name but can't think of the music.

Short fast punky pop songs/50's rock 'n' roll speeded up. One of the main bands to influence the punk scene back in the '70s.
