Still I can't see how he can justify that kind of money for four screws and connect the cable.

I have quite a few other sockets and lights which I needed done but going by what I had to pay for two I'd of been up to a grand in no time, so il leave them.

My plumber is also a professional but he charges peanuts compared to the sparky.

Ah, yes that's for nothing.

My electrician said he did 5 jobs the day he called into my house and that mine was the smallest job of the day. So now I'm thinking if he only charged them all a hundred quid each that's a nice earner for a day's work. I think I'm in the wrong trade

They were separated for years and have now moved into the same house together, so they noticed the benifits agency of their new circumstances and that's when they heard about it.

Before January 2019 it wouldn't of affected their benefits at all.

Whats to stop the electric still coming through the cables though. As for fuses I haven't got a clue what is what. "

Turn the electric off at the fuse box. It's not like turning the water off and you then have to drain what remains in the pipes. With electricity, once the circuit is broken, then is no electricity. Since you have no understanding of it though, I'd stick to paying an electrician.

Lets see, Sterling was trading at 1.36 against the Euro in just prior to the brexit vote, it was about 1.09 on friday. Similarly it was about 1.46 against the Dollar in 2016, today its 1.27. The graph here shows the trend https://www.bbc.com/news/business-46862790.

Beer is okay in the right places “like Wetherspoons and the supermarket, but cigarettes are ridiculous in the uk. In Lagos Marlboro touch in a proper packet, no horrible pictures for £1.10, here they are £14 and the packet is gross. Luckily we have found them for £5 at the Syrian car wash but it’s still 5x the normal price , I don't know how people afford to smoke in the UK

But if you want think the increased cost of food is #justcovidthings, you won't be alone in that. Denial is more than a river in Egypt."

I been down de Nile lol ,if you think the big supermarkets are price fixing your prob right ,hysteria breeds profit they have no shame ,I was recently teasing reviews on lamb shoulder from Tesco don’t believe me take a read ,absolutely slaughters them on quality and price ,they buy direct from the Abattoir and demand the cheapest price ,they only buy a specific weight and rely on intense farming practices ,so passing these savings on is utter bullshit

"Food*

This is true and its only going to get worse. #justbrexitthings

I wondered when someone would start blaming brexit

When you import most of your food and your currency falls in value, food prices will rise. I wonder what might have caused Sterling to fall in value.

And I wonder why many services and products have risen in price irrespective of the value of the £? It surely couldn't be due to the recession-like consequences of the pandemic now could it

Just covid? No. Just like it isn't singularly brexit.

Not all cars.....I just bought a new one and it immediately went up in value by 7 grand!

Yeah try and get it though. What kind of car is that? "

Worthing

New tvs that replace an older model. In most cases there is not much difference. Computer graphic cards for similar reasons. In both cases, skipping 2 generations and above is better.

"My electrician yesterday charged me £96! Just to change a socket and put a light up which I had bought.

He has the power

Erm could you not have done it yourself??

Cheap as chips as my electrician brother would

say as if you fit it yourself without the part p certificate and you have a electric fire the insurance is invalid and no pay out "

Can't imagine someone telling the insurance company after a fire.. "yeah I did it myself" lol

Best buy so many as you can then, if they're selling like that.

"Holidays"

I think this is relative.

Holidaying in Ireland IS an absolutely rip off.

Package deals for summer holibobs through agents is more expensive than arranging everything yourself.
