"It’s been said to me many times from childhood in a negative way, I cannot associate a positive meaning to the word. Amazing what bullies can do to you isn’t it " I always got (and still get) that I have a pretty face, just need to lose weight as I’m a bit fat, and that has been from my dads family to friends. I don’t get why not being as slim as them means they can call me fat and think it’s acceptable. The mind boggles at how some people behave, but something physical is the easiest thing to grab onto and use to bully xx

"Not offended at all, because I am in fact fat. It irritates me when I get a guy messaging me "Oh, you're not fat". I beg to differ. I have a lot of deficiencies but my eyesight doesn't count among them. I know exactly who and what I am." Hopefully fuller figured doesn't offend, because I should go and hide now if it does. It's difficult to know person to person who finds "fat" offensive and who doesn't. I certainly wouldn't use it as an insult, but wouldn't want to cause offence to anyone by saying it. For that reason I would avoid saying it whatsoever.

"I'm not offended by the term fat as such if it's used in a factual way and not as an insult. " This is where I struggle because I don't see how calling someone fat is factual. Fat is something you have not something you are.

This is the lie we have been told since the 1970s and the reason for so much obesity now. We also eat high contest fatty meat, lots of dairy , raw unpasteurised full fat milk , real butter etc , it helps us keep weight off not on. Anything that says low fat on it , is just full of sugar or carb, or cheap nasty rubbish

"I'm definitely offended when people say I'm fat. Having recently recovered from a 10+ year battle with an eating disorder and gaining weight as part of the process, its a huge trigger for me. You look lovely xx you have got curves in all the right places Thank you, that's kind of you to say. I just find it upsetting when people feel the need to message me about the fact that I'm a little overweight- as though I don't already know that. I don't know what the people who message you are seeing when they say you're overweight. You're slim, peachy and you look so radiant and healthy! Please don't let people upset you by filling your head with lies. " Thank you, that's so lovely of you to say

"Are you offended by the word fat, if you are fat?" I'm offended by people using them as insults. No one ever had the right to comment on another person's size or weight. It's no one else business and something that gets right up my nose. My size has changed recently and I've actually had messages pointing it out, as if I don't know??? Some people are just horrible and there's no need for it. I was always taught "If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all" #BeKind

"Words don't really bother me anymore. After being told daily how worthless, fat, useless I am it just fades into grey noise. " People said that to you? Think it says more about them. Why would they? Beggars belief.

I know many are defensive about their weight and will respond as though being approached is offensive. But I want to help those who want to be helped. I cannot exactly wear a neon sign on my head stating I come without judgement. Therefore, unintentionally I'm going to be putting peoples' noses out of joint.

" If people asked for help with their weight one way or another, then it's different. People shouldn't be commenting on it freely though. Is it okay for someone I didn't know to tell me I'm too skinny? I was sick and struggling as it was, it was the last thing I needed to hear. Is it okay for people who I've never met to point out I've gained weight or that I have wobbly bits? No, it's none of their business. Context is everything.
