We're told we should get 8 hours sleep a night, realistically how many of us actually do?

Can you survive on less or do you need more?

8 hours in bed but wake up multiple times so probably 4-5 of actual sleep. I used to play a lot of poker in casinos and could go 48 hours without sleep but I'm getting to old for that shit!

3-4 hours is a great nights sleep for me but it’s rare, usually a couple of broken hours. The few times I’ve managed an 8 hour sleep I have woken with a migraine or ridiculously sluggish and can’t seem to wake up properly at all.

I get four hours if I'm lucky, feel fine on it though so doesn't bother me, just think of it as some people need more while some need less, seemed to bother my ex more than me...waking him up whilst reading or pottering about

8 hours feels a bit plucked out the air, like 5-a-day, but I do feel that most people probably don't get enough. I usually get 6ish a night and it's generally fine, with a nap every once in a while.

If we take the 8 hours as reccomendation, and just for talk sake, we start doing 8 hours from the age of 20, and we live till 80. We would have slept for 20 years

Definition of pottering - Landing a helicopter on the lounge ,taking the silencer off the hoover and dusting with an orbital sander

I go to sleep around 11pm and my little one wakes around 7am so I'm up as soon as she is wide awake. I'd say I get around 5 hours each night as I wake multiple times and it takes me forever to get back to sleep.

I'm always exhausted, so tired and like a walking zombie. If I get the chance to nap in the day I will but it doesn't make much difference.
