Whilst chatting to a friend on here, I happened to mention I was heading to the beach after work for a walk. They replied stating they hadn't been to a beach in almost a year.

For some unknown reason, I'd made an assumption they were at the beach frequently.

Do you make assumptions about forum members lives and lifestyle based only on their profile?

And yes I make assumptions all the time, like when you start a new book and you have all the characters images in your mind and then the author gradually either ruins your initial thoughts or enhances what you be imagined......

Haha, I love you LBC, I try my best on the dad bit but I'm better at not beating myself up about it these days, and the rest is actually scarily accurate, well outside of lockdown anyway.....

I imagine/know you as being beautiful from the bones out. Caring and a SUPERMUM and with an eye for detail and perfection. I reckon your house is super tidy and everything matches and has a place!

It's very interesting to see the impression one's given. At the end of my working life I used to do short term contracts with people I didn't know well. I was called "posh totty" in one office and in another they all said they were envious of my home because it must be beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. Lord knows where they got either impression because neither is true.

I live in a detached house that was built in 1913.

It’s modern inside ... but very old style on the outside.

100% correct with the second part. Soft exterior but when it’s taken advantage of, no more Mrs nice Lou.

In real life when I refer to “my daughter” in the company of new people they always assume she’s very little, and seem mildly shocked that she’s secondary school age.

Never had my gender wrongly assumed before though... that’s specific to Fab, that one.
