Because of the lack of playing with others allowed during the lockdown, how have people been filling their time and using all their unspent energy and enthusiasm?

Has anyone made any positive changes during the lockdown period. E.g. given up any bad habits, taken up any good hobbies running etc?

Have made a few here, just thought this could be a great place to share some positivity and share and celebrate some success

Lockdown has lead to me starting running. I’ve never ran but I’m now booked in for a marathon later in the year to raise money for a mental health charity.

That’s fantastic, found the running has had positive impact on your mental health too?

It’s been a very tough time without getting into it. But I’m enjoying the running, which is something I can safely say I’d never have done. Normally I was more heavy weights and contact sports so my running was intermittent sprinting haha

I read the entire works of Shakespeare, tackled Keats and Shelly, I read war and peace then taught myself oil painting, yoga, tai chi and raki.

I learned to lie like a cheap naffi watch as well.

I moved in with Bladey and scrubbed his gaff like it’s never been scrubbed before

Not sure that he sees it as positively as me - he misses his pet spiders

Having gradually put on weight over the last 10 years as my work life became more sedentary, I really piled it on during the first two months of lock down. I’ve now taken control of this and it’s coming off about a kg a week. Still plenty to lose, but I’m feeling really good about how it’s going.

Under the Duvet

I've had a good lockdown with my kid, we had moved to a great flat with a massive garden just prior to Covid so we had plenty of space and fresh air.

The weather was mostly good, we did loads of "crafty" things and stuff like old fashioned board games, read a huge number of books , and only really had a couple of bouts of cabin fever.

We have been lucky in many ways, I know lots of other people have not been as fortunate, but in the grand scheme of things we've been ok

North Bucks

Did every diy project that I had been putting off. My garden looks amazing and my paddocks post and rail have all been fixed.

I saved a fair amount of money and also worked on hard on my body and mind. Because my exams were postponed I revised the shit out of the subject and feel really good about it now.

I have just spectacularly failed at cementing slate onto the top of my retaining wall though as a rather startled bulldog just found out so you can’t have everything.

I’ve enjoyed lockdown to be honest.

You've moved in together! Congratulations.

Positives - I've saved a lot of money from no commuting, no coffees and cakes and new dresses for the aforementioned so we've paid off a fair bit of the mortgage and in a couple of weeks we're finally getting the kitchen redone! It's also given me a chance to reconnect with friends and properly connect with a partner at a faster pace - we've spoken a lot, frequently and I don't think without lockdown we'd be in the position we are in currently. My hair has also grown a lot because I spent a good few months doing treatments and not straightening it or using heat products on it.

Bham

I lost a stone and I can run 5k again so I'm probably fitter than I've been for years. I also managed to save a bit without commuting and going out so my finances are looking better.
