Stockport

Northampton in 1982. In a mental hospital with Lucia Joyce, daughter of James Joyce, on the last day of her life. Her inner voice uses the multi-layered linguistic style of her father's Finnegan's Wake, every phrase has double and triple and deeper meanings. Reading it is like exploring ever deeper into a labyrinth.

Just one chapter of a book by Alan Moore, only 40 pages, but I've been lost in Lucia since the start of covid. Perhaps when I emerge from the maze I will blink in the sunlight and find that the virus was no more than a waking dream...

"14th century England in my way to Canterbury... Still . I might give up soon and read the short version "

I'm somewhere between London and Canterbury too. Currently in the middle of a diversion through Tartary. No wonder it took them so long to get there.

But book? Singular? Because I'm in a few other places as well. I've just left 17th century London on my way to the 18th century. And also in Alexandria.
