"Today is the start of my shark week so there are a lot more things in my angry list haha but at the moment it's mostly narrow minded, obtuse, stubborn conspiracy theorists that are driving me up the fucking wall... As for happy things I can never not smile and feel all warm and tingly at the sound of a child's laughter and videos of people rescuing animals and those animals going on to have happy lives with their forever families/back in the wild ![]() Awww cool, yeah things and people that you can't change can be the most frustrating ever - do you tell them what you think or just ignore, but CAN you ignore....? ![]() ![]() ![]()

"I don’t feel like sharing my emotions today, however, I’m intrigued as to why you chose Mr Angry and Mrs Happy? Are the men always angry and the women always happy? ![]() ![]() ![]() Silly pointless things that make me angry: Bad drivers (I struggle with disproportionate road rage), rudeness/dismissiveness of others, being patronised (the latter probably makes me more irritated than angry). Serious things that make me angry: abuse of vulnerable people and betrayal of trust would be the two main ones. Happy? Lots of things! My family, friends, nature, time to relax and recharge, feeling as though I’ve accomplished something meaningful, making others happy.... And in answer to your question about balance; no I wouldn’t change it. Negative emotions are equally as important as positive ones - they tell us important things about ourselves and our values. If I’m feeling angry, it’s for a good reason and there’s something that I either need to change, or let go of. So long as I have ways of managing and coping with the bad feelings, it’s all good. ![]()

" My lack of patience makes me angry, in general it's my own frustration on not being able to accomplish something. Things that make me happy, my kids, especially when they're kind of being naughty but funny. Being out in nature by myself has always been my go to route to happiness. And laughter be it with family or friends just makes life better I don't tend to hang on to anger too much and I rarely loose my temper. If anything tend to back away from it which sometimes makes people think I'm ok with a situation. I don't think it's a choice between anger and happiness. I think anger as long as it's not directed towards people is a good way to release pent up emotions and may feel happier as a consequence. What are you Nip? Are the men always angry and the women always happy? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Why didn't you categoriae happy into serious and silly? Can happiness not be pointless? Can angry actually be pointless? Is pointless pointless? In answer to your question, I was trying to mimic Mr Men and then I wanted to go for equality so I initially titled the tread " Mr/Ms Angry Vs Mr/Ms Happy" but it looked really confusing and I already know I can be very confusing so I went for one of each. And since I'm a man, I gave men the negative so as not to push the gender too much but also with the idea that hopefully someone would spot that! Well done! ![]() ![]()

"Are we talking about on here, or just in general? However you fancy, maybe both if you like....? ![]() Thinking about it, there aren't many things that make me properly angry....peeved, slightly irked, or disappointed, there are plenty of things. The one that springs to mind is cruelty to animals - I've worked in dog rescue, and some people don't deserve to be allowed to walk the streets if they're capable of such inhumane acts. But lots and lots of things make me happy - loving and being loved, friends and family, the unconditional love of my big doofus of a pooch, being out in the countryside, sitting in front of the fire with a good book and a cuppa, and a myriad of different things. I try not to dwell on anger, it's such a negative emotion...unless I'm using it as driving force to spur me on for something. But who wouldn't want to dwell on happiness, it's such a lovely feeling.

"I don’t feel like sharing my emotions today, however, I’m intrigued as to why you chose Mr Angry and Mrs Happy? Are the men always angry and the women always happy? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ahh I see. No I don’t think happiness is ever pointless, I think it’s amazing and should be made the most of, no matter how small. I categorised anger as I felt it important to acknowledge that at times, I get angry at the “smaller” stuff that doesn’t really have any lasting impact on my life or relationships - and it’s usually forgotten without minutes (like road rage). The bigger stuff that can do lasting damage, like abuse or betrayed trust, that’s not so easy to just forget about. However when I smile, however “small” the thing I’ve smiled about, I tend to remember it. That’s why happiness to me is never “pointless” or silly, but anger can be. ![]()

Are the men always angry and the women always happy? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() True. But I still wouldn’t call anything that made me smile “pointless”. There’s of course different levels of emotional significance to things that make us feel happy. But for me, when I’m smiling, whatever the reason ... I’m winning. ![]()

"Are we talking about on here, or just in general? However you fancy, maybe both if you like....? ![]() I think there are varying levels of happiness, but all are "proper" . Some will be temporary, like when I'm reading a book, eventually someone will interrupt me, I'll need to stop to do something else, or I'll just get tired of reading...so that is lower level happiness that lasts for the time that you're doing something. What I interpret you to mean by "proper" happiness are the longer lasting things - for example loving someone, even when you're not together you know that that love is still there, it's more of a fixture in your life, an ever-present happiness if you like.

"Are we talking about on here, or just in general? However you fancy, maybe both if you like....? ![]() I think that it's important to feel all emotions at varying times and levels (apart from jealousy, that's a bitter, pointless emotion that eats people up and often causes them to inflict misery and hurt upon the lives of other people). Is it possible for someone to only ever feel transient happiness? I suppose it is, but then it's all very subjective - what I see as transient, someone else might see as more permanent.
