I do think this is one area where the difference between the single male experience of the site and that of non-single males is quite marked.

It's very rare I have been asked to explain my use of the site except in situations similar to the one I described above.

I never explain in real life either. I watch my mum in agonies trying to come up with an explanation for not attending a social event when a simple "thank you I'm not able to come" usually suffices. If pushed, smile enigmatically and say "personal reasons"

Our profile is incredibly clear but I'd say about 95% of the messages we received are from people who haven't read it at all.

They all get pretty much the same reply, so much so that all I have to do is click on my middle button of predictive text to reply to them.

Not really. I accept most of what I say is probably incomprehensible to some. However needing to explain my choices and preferences has rarely, if ever, come up in conversation, probably because I don’t attract that kind of interest.

Why I won’t meet outside of Birmingham. They then tell me how many miles / minutes away they are. I don’t even bother to answer those messages.

As many I’m time poor and don’t want to factor the driving time into a meet.

In my younger days, with less responsibilities I travelled all around England. Now I’m too old and great sex can’t be guaranteed lol
