I drive a Mk3 Ford Mondeo diesel, zetec s. Why?

I love the extra power I get with this version of the car, I love to sports suspension set up and most of all I love the fact I can put my foot down a bit when needed (within the speed limit of course) and it still returns a healthy fuel consumption. AND... its cheap to repair and insure as its a FORD!

Normally I drive something because I want to.. I see cars that I fancy owning and get them..

Currently I have a car that I have been stuck with for 18months.. its the longest I have ever had just one car for..

It suits my mumsey lifestyle but is dull, boring and slow.

Next car ( in about a month) I think will be a clio 182... why... Because it does good mpg, easy to work on, fast considering ( not as fast as previous cars I have had but fast enough) and it will be fine for school run, shopping, long journeys and track days..

I say I think as every time I plan to buy a car. I tend to end up seeing something I fancy.. I really am trying not to end up with a 145 cloverleaf.. but I do love them..

As for which car I drive, I'd be here all day.

And because I'm paid to, and I have a different car every night and over weekends on my drive.

Best all rounders in the normal bracket (fuel consumption, responsive drive, tank size, spacious enough and capable of wellying) are probably the Mondeo tdi zetec, the toyota avensis, the vauxhall insignia (but not the opal version, they're a bag of shit) and the diesel qashqai 2 litre. The clio is probably the best smaller model.

Of course I obviously also love getting a mercedes clc, 370z, porsche boxter et al quite regularly, but I hardly think they tick the good fuel consumption box....

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

The same reason I choose any car... when I open the hatchback I have to be able to reach it to close it. When I sit in the driving seat does it adjust well enough for me to reach the pedals and see over the steering wheel. Every car for the last 15 years based on those factors.

This one because it is also keyless.

An 89 year man came into the garage he worked at and asked about scrapping it as he had decided to retire from driving, my son and one of his workmates were going to buy it for banger car racing but my son was the only one with money so he bought it but gave it to me as I was without car at the time

"i drive a vectra not sure why but it gets me from a to b,but i drive alot of other cars due to work"

I loved my Vectra but had to get shot of it quicktime when I found out it was a 'cut and shut'. It had lumbar support in the driver's seat, cruise control, anti-skid & anti-ice control, was an automatic and an absolute pleasure to drive. It was a Star Silver colour with black leather trim and anyone who sat in commented on what a great car it was. Such a shame it had to go.

Got a poxy Avensis now, and although it's reliable it just doesn't have that va-va-voom factor.

I drive my car because I was looking for something smaller and something more ecomomical.

I liked the cars, but had not seen what they were like inside - I hate cars that look 'plasticky' inside.

I went in the dealership 'just to look' and came out considerably poorer than I had been an hour before.

But happy.

Just 1 pet peeve - there are no cup holders ! What's all that about ?

It hasn't given me an ounce of trouble in 2 years, other than an air con / thermostat problem that was (mercifully)resolved under the warranty.

near the sounds of the wimborne quarter jack!

A `94 Land Rover Discovery. It`s getting a bit rough now but it`s got an automatic gearbox which suits my lazy driving style. Being an older diesel it will run on cooking oil if I`m stuck and also being a Land Rover I can get bits cheaply and freely. It`s a great tow car, not the fastest but you`d be amazed what I have towed with it and where! Like an ex-RAF turntable trailer loading with some farm implements that all together must have weighed about 4-5 tons up the A30 Causeway into Shaftesbury!

I drive a Renault Megane. I bought it because it was pretty. It was a whim. She has drifferent trim to other Meganes so she is a bit different, so suits my personality! I wouldn't advise anyone to buy a Renault though. I had a Clio before the Megane and have had endless electrical issues with both. Very expensive but unfortunately I bought her on finance so stuck with her for a while now. Boooooo!
