Very sad watching this, the children always look troubled and the mothers seem to have just moved on a lot easier.

do you think? I think that the parents (its not just mothers) are often distraught and have carried a lifetime of guilt and regret

I suspect any person looking for their birth mother would be understandably nervous. Any mother who's circumstances meant they had to give up their baby would obviously have spent years pretending they had successfully moved on, but looks can be deceiving. No one can know the pain and anguish in another's heart, especially when we haven't walked in their shoes.

I would hope this is the case - I've never watched it as it's a little too close to home for me - but if my birth father turned up uninvited after 54 years of not wanting to know me, I'd personally not want anything to do with him, let alone have it played out on national TV.

There was one episode where the mother had been found by her son, to him he had been discarded twice as she wanted nothing to do with him.

I was once friends with a lady that had been adopted, and had sought her birth mother,only to be told her mother had no desire to meet her. Very sad outcome.

Farnborough.

My Dad was adopted at birth, his 'cousins' he played with were his siblings, his 'aunt and uncle' were his biological parents and his 'Mum' was his aunt. Crazy as he never knew the truth that he was given to his aunt to bring up as her own.

I don't watch this as it's too close to home... But some things are best left as they are really. I wouldn't want anything played out on TV. I've processed and dealt with things and would hate someone to just appear in my life.
