I really enjoy receiving cold calls from (usually) the Indian subcontinent trying to flog me something or other over the phone. Now I'm a little bit too 'nice' to be directly rude to the caller and just hang up as the poor lambs have a job to do. Working from their script they'll introduce their product and I'll pleasantly tell them that I'm not interested. They then continue with the script and I'll point out that their service just isn't for me, but thanks for the call. Of course they just horse on with the sales pitch and I again give them a cheery No thank you. Undeterred I continue to hear how I would be mad not to close the deal! At this point I go into my own script. Man or woman caller, they get the same treatment. I firstly tell them that they have a beautiful telephone voice and that I'm really enjoying speaking with them. They continue with their script and I again politely decline and ask about the local weather in their location. They tell me that it is very hot so I ask what clothes they have to wear to combat the heat. Before they get back to selling I jump in with the crucial question "Do you have no knickers/pants on whilst we are talking?" followed by a long drawn out "mmmmmmm.....". For some reason none of my calls have successfully passed beyond this point and I just hear a click as the line is terminated from their end. What am I doing wrong? My strike rate for securing myself (and my wife) an Indian girlfriend or boyfriend is shockingly low!
