Do you find dieting easy?

And which do you follow? I kind of find it easy as I have done it for 15 years or so. I am currently doing summer schredding which means I have to be in a calorie deficit for a long time. I like the challenge of it by hitting my calories daily, what I like to do is to be super strict during the week of 2500 calories then on the weekend usually saturday. I will have a refeed day of 300 calories extra

I dont really diet but very rarely hit over 1000cals in a day, as I normally just forget to eat.

I think focusing on a diet would make me desire high calorie food because it's the desire of having something forbidden.

Everytime I try to 'diet' I end up craving all the naughty stuff that wouldn't normally cross my mind.

Been doing 5:2 during lockdown. Was very easy after the first week. Last week was the most difficult in a while though but I was tired and stressed with work. Back on it this week with renewed enthusiasm after my cheating last week.

How well does that work? I've heard of others doing it.

Very well for me.

Lost nearly a stone so far. I have been running at the same time though, not on my fasting days!

Cool, that's good to know, thanks for getting back to me.

So how many weeks have you been doing it? How many calories do you eat on the two fasting days?

Yes because I don't do it. I have to eat lower carb because I have raised blood sugar but that's it.

I know very few people who have dieted to a "goal weight" and stayed there . My opinion is that adopting a good and balanced approach to food is probably the best way.

I dont diet.

I eat to fuel my lifting.

All home prepared, no processed stuff. Plenty of fruit and veg.

250g protein, 110g fat, 570g carbs, 4250 calories on lifting days, slightly less on rest days

I generally stick to a low carb diet apart from the on weekend. My treat is either pasta or a jacket spud..

Works well for me. I do have a protein shake after exercise though which I encorporate 4 days out of 7 and have d*unk 2 litres of water a day for the last 5 years..

I couldn't diet; I love to snack (fruit, nuts and seeds mainly) but... I'm careful of what I eat, not much greasy stuff, chocolate and booze (2 drinks) a week. Plenty of fruit and veg, no meat only fish and plenty of exercise. It suits me,I could be a little lighter but happy with my weight and I'm healthy so, for me, dieting isn't necessary... Just as well because, like I said, I'd be rubbish at it

Nah, I'm really crap at it. I mostly eat healthy food (apart from the snacking), but definitely too much.

The alcohol doesn't help either.

I had balanced it with running/exercise, but a fractured ankle earlier in the year, then lockdown has stuffed that also!

Help!

;-)

No dieting here. Just moderation. We all know what we should and shouldn't eat lots of. I exercise so I can eat more

Running, bodyweight exercises and strength work. All in moderation for a healthy, balanced, functional body.

Yes that happens too, what I do is to include some of those sweets daily into the total but still keep it to the minimum.

So how many weeks have you been doing it? How many calories do you eat on the two fasting days?"

Been doing it since about mid April, start of April. I am allowed to eat 600calories on a fasting say, (500) for women.

What works for me is a couple of bowls of porridge and a multivitamin on my diet days. Then eat normally on other days.

Takes your body a bit to get used to it, being extra hungry the first week but then I find I don't eat as much on my eating days, as I have my fasting belly.

Just buy low fat foods, read food labels, do not snack and drink water and you will never need to diet. A lifestyle change is all it takes to remain slim forever..

Fasting works better than diets for me, teaches your stomach a lesson about who’s really in charge. Also staying active not sat at a desk all day and avoiding low fat foods - they are usually higher in sugar, just eat normally but healthily

I don't diet as such, each day I allow myself an 8 hour window for calorie intake. So I start later in the day for breaking my fast. I tend to eat quite healthy anyway. I do enjoy a good old binge day now and again, although over lockdown, I have discovered white bread is definitely an enemy of mine

A low fat diet is very high in sugar but I agree, a lifestyle change is needed to be slim and healthy but even slim people can be very sick on the inside.

I was very slim as a teenager but gained weight about 18 to a healthy but curvy size. I was then about the same weight until my final year of uni at 23 when I piled a lot of weight on. I gradually lost it again over the next three years and found losing weight pretty easy when I set my mind to it. The last 3/4 of a stone I'd like to lose is proving tough though. I've struggled to do so for the past two years. I'm giving fasting a go though at the moment and I'm currently 4 pounds down so fingers crossed!

I don't specifically diet but just try to limit the amount I eat. My real downfall is snacking - especially salty snacks.

I am slightly overweight for my height and have managed to reduce snacking during lockdown and lost a few pounds.

Don’t diet. Don’t believe in them.

It’s a life style choice to eat health and eat what I need. Training days naturally result in higher intake and isolation lower. I stay away from processed food etc

I would almost completely agree

Being on a diet should mean one is on a life long nutrition strategy hopefully including a balance of all macros and food groups in a measured controlled manner

Yes almost

For some of us we like to play at dipping into ridiculous unhealthy low fat ranges for a period of time for this minority a yo yo of some degree is obviously required as ultra low bf is not long term advised

But the fat change is more controlled than an irratic yo yo

I joined weight watchers (much to my dismay!) a year ago and have lost 4 1/2 stone. A stone of that during lockdown. I’d previously given slimming world a go but lost a stone tops and it seems this is much better suited to me in terms of my medical issues.

I’m much happier with how I look now and will likely semi stick to it to maintain where I am now
