"And the BBC news implied that Downing street are blaming the security forces" They have a point. Head of Cameron security: All agents, everyone accounted for? Rest of security: No, boss, eldest Cameron child not with rest of party. How feckin easy is that if I can come up with such a simple security check in 2 minutes without any training.

He's Prime Minister of the UK and as such he is a target for whatever crank with a grudge against us or the Americans, so it makes poerfect sense that if someone wants to launch a rocket propelled missle at his car that his children wouldn't be in that car. Take two cars. The fuck up is that whoever was in the car that Cameron wasn't should have known that his children wouldn't be with him. Period.

"The incident occurred two months ago....The following week her Dad launched a government fund to teach parenting skills by offering £100 tuition vouchers to wayward parents 'who clearly haven't got a clue' " £100 doesn't buy security of one's family across two cars. Clearly the £100 offer was for Mr & Mrs Chav from Chavsville to keep them in the pub and slamdunk the kids for fucking up their drinking cash if it gets withdrawn for 'bad parenting skills'. Not a good day for the Tories that one.

"I got to say though ,I decided I dont like being manipulated by the Murdoch press no more, you got to ask ,why have the Sun sat on this story for 2 months.. " This story was a 'banker' for the press. They can sit on certain stories and they won't age too quickly and as there were a lot of other more current events that would have aged quickly (Jubliee celebrations, Hodgson's appointment etc etc) they milked those stories first knowing they can wait for a quiet news day to release a relatively minor story about Cameron forgetting his kid in a pub.

" No you wouldn't be visited by the SS because you would have gone back for your child as soon as you realised she wasn't in the ONE car you arrived in - so the short distance from the car park to the pub wouldn't have been noticed by anyone. Hammer the guy for leaving his kid but don't link it to him being being rich as it could have happened to anyone. I read posts like yours and all I can see is jealousy over what he has compared to what you haven't got.

So nothing to do with it being a "focus the mind exercise" with Mr Cameron sitting in the hot seat at Levison on Thursday ,or am i getting too cynical in my old age, given the total incestuous relationship all politicians have had with the press and the "mafia" like actions of News Int in the last 10 years, nothing would surprise me anymore ,absolutely nothing. As it has traveled Internationally making news in many countries,i dont think you can call it a minor story,a minor story would be a small paragraph on page 5 + not a page one headline.

"I dont understand why do thay not have a nanny if so much on in there life ..." I think they'd face accusations of elitism if they employed a nanny. I get the impression that Samantha is a hands-on mum and would rather do it herself, but in this instance she thought the eldest child was with Cam, and vice versa. Personally, I'd have got security to radio the other car to make sure.

DC has always been a bit cavalier with his security, remember the early days dismissing the out riders and going walkabout without guards,he has to understand his family are now very much a target for extremists and anti govt malcontents. I hope its been a bit of a wake up call to be honest, like one of the papers in the states said "can you imagine this happening with obama's kids" ,i am glad he took it on the chin taking full responsibility, rather than the blame game with his security team. I am sure it will never happen again.

"Flooding is this week, 50 places are on flood alert and people are still in a mess with the weekends floods....so it is now " Yes I know it's ongoing but it was big news last week. The media _iew things slightly different to you and me and they categorise stories as to the mileage they can get out of them. I'd bet quite a few kids still get savaged by dogs every week but it's old news so they don't run them.

"It's a story that doesn't age though, which is why it was supressed until now. Read my post again PD. I did and you said it was a banker saved until a quiet news day ,,,it wasn't a quiet news day though, we had the euro bailout of Spain ,Brown and The current chancellor at Levison, the flooding ,Syria,a plethora of murders and the football quite the reverse in fact..... Spain (or one of the others) is ALWAYS in the news re the Euro Brown is hardly worth a mention, and definately OLD news The flooding was last week Syria people are bored to death with ...and we got a draw against France - big deal. News-wise, it was a quiet enough day to bring it alive with Cameron's mishap." its interesting even the AP news service think there is more to the timing, than meets the eye and created linkage between the two events in there newswire service reported by papers overseas,i personally believe the timing of this is not the result of a slow news day ,(especially as it actually wasn't a slow news day at all). if you think floods ,pestilence and a major public inquiry on media and political corruption in this country are slow news days i don't know what you would consider a fast news day. from AP news service .... The incident was first reported in Rupert Murdoch's tabloid newspaper the Sun in the week that Cameron is due to give evidence at Britain's media ethics inquiry. Newspaper executives declined to specify how the story came to the newspaper's attention, and the pub telephone was not answered Monday. Britain's contentious press took a generally bemused attitude toward the high-profile parenting lapse, although the Guardian newspaper did suggest the prime minister may be too relaxed for his own good at a time of great crisis in the global economy.

Great smokescreen if he is.

"Ss wouldn't have been called even if he had been a normal poor person. I know this as i lost my daughter on a holiday outing. I was in a state... And I kept saying what sort of mother was I to lose my little girl. The police told me It's a daily occurrence down by the beach that a child is lost. I've lost a child in a shop before too.. and once when I had all the kids and a friends brood too .. got off the train. Did a head count.. then realised we had counted someone else's child. We had to get them to escort the 11 year old back from the next station. It happens and was only news worthy because it was who it was. Cali " Ta for answering about the SS....I would imagine if SS was called after every child wandered off they would be realllllyyy busy. Sorry but I did at counting someone else's child in on the head count.

"could simply be the 'murdoch's' letting cameron know that they still have their tentacles (albeit slimy fecking ones)at the 'highest level'.. " After John Majors evidence at Levison today (where he came across with loads of cred) I have to agree ,he said Murdoch senior sat opposite him and stated clearly ,"if you want the support of the Sun and my organization at the next election you will change your policies over Europe" We knew it went on, but to have a former PM say he was shocked at an individual trying to tell a acting PM what to do and how angry he was ..made me angry.. Thankfully John Major had the credibility and honor to do right by the country and declined the offer. He has become a top bloke in my eyes.

I also thought he came across well today, not a fan but he was honest" well you know View i question all the info we have about these people now as we have clearly been manipulated for years by murdoch I sort of always suspected it, but i really had no idea until Levison that his influence subverted democracy so much. I am angry that no one took him on before to put a stop to it,its like Reggie and Ronny Kray took over parliament . Major for me always came across as a grey man with no personality and was in the job as a holding leader ,but listening to him today ,he was intelligent astute and above all came over as honest sincere and well meaning, quite rare in the era of the soundbite

When someone is working diligently in the background without creating too much of a fuss those are the ones probably doing the best work. It's just the media like to have 'up and at em' leaders to write about - how else could someone like George Bush Jnr get elected otherwise.
