and what a difference to last weekend!

How have you lot found it?

Yes, I'm talking pubs n restaurants.

Last weekend people were respectful, patient, considerate.

This weekend.... Holy fuckballs, what a decent days weather and a week of complacency can do!

So, just a quick reminder to those who will be attending places that are open or about to reopen.

They can ONLY open because of the changes made and restrictions in place. If you don't abide by the new rules and regs, you could be responsible for that business being closed down by the powers that be.

They have had to have all new risk assessments done, all nee staff training.

Please don't fuck it up for them because you don't think you should have to wait longer for a drink, or because now there is a socially distanced queue, please don't go and help yourself to stuff just because you can see it and "what harm will it do?"

I'll tell you what harm it can do.

It can close a business back down.

Example: most restaurants have sauces for you to use, and condiments etc. You will need to wait for them to be brought to your table by a staff member who has just sanitised their hands. If you decide to go help yourself coz you can see what you want and it's ooooohhhh so close... the staff then have to sanitise EVERYTHING in the area you just went to.

If something used to be self serve and you now get served by staff whilst you're telling team what you want, DO NOT pass the signs that say "please wait here to be served" because all of that food you just got clise to has to be thrown away!

Respect the rules people please, they are in place to keep you safe, keep others safe, AND to keep people in jobs.

It's people changing habits too. Things you take for granted like popping a highchair on the end of a table. You can't do that anymore because tables are measured and the right distance from each other, you whack a highchair on the end and that safe distance is negotiated. Plus when food is brought to tables it has to be put on the end of the table and not placed in front of people coz you can't lean over.

Peoples minds aren't logical.

The amount of people that I'm suggesting they change places with their kids, they look at me blankly after I've already told them I have to put everything on the end of the table for them to hand out themselves.

Well... if you don't change places with your child I'll be putting an adult sized plate of hot food right where your kid can stick their hands right in it, and that small child will need to pass you that big plate.

It's adjusting and learning.

It's the ones that think they're exempt that really should be staying home.

I think it's important to maintain some perspective

People are continually having to adopt new ways to behave in situations that were previously familiar

We're not all gonna get it absolutely right, but it won't always mean that increases the risk of spreading/contracting the virus

I think it's important to maintain some perspective

People are continually having to adopt new ways to behave in situations that were previously familiar

We're not all gonna get it absolutely right, but it won't always mean that increases the risk of spreading/contracting the virus "

Had a meal at a Greene King pub. The pub had only about a quarter of the people it would have normally for a Saturday night. Ordered on the app, the staff wear visors and put your order on a small table aside from your table for you to pick up. All well organised

There is much work to be done and posting things like this are helpful. Seeing the knock on effects of our actions is a way we can learn why we need to change. Really understanding why we need to change is critical in changing our habits. The other is a really clear understanding of what good looks like in the each situation. Education is key to this.

This is so true. Went out to the pub, walked in and walk right out again. People walking around from table to table without any respect for other people space and some staff not doing anything to let them know about the social distance rules.

I was wondering how you were getting on back in work.

It's great to hear it from your perspective, I wouldn't of known about half of those things, highchairs changing distance between tables etc. Food being thrown away because someone went to close

I think I'll stay away for a bit still, my local was noisy at the wend! No need to book just sounds like a free for all.

I really hope this weekend isn't too bad for you - people can be rather self centred and unaware/don't care about the consequences of their actions. Sadly they probably won't be the ones who would stop and read something like this. I know lockdown has been difficult for a lot of people and we all wish for some return to normality but not at the expense of others.

I get buses daily wear covering every trip. The amount of people not wearing is quite significant on some journeys. Drivers can't enforce for fear of arguments. Common sense and patience are lacking greatly in some peoples Noggins.

Yep! I work for a certain hotel chain where we do a hot buffet breakfast, and I highly doubt we'll be doing that even when I do go back. A couple of winters ago when we had 20 or less on our breakfast report, the host would take orders and the cook would plate them up in the kitchen. Stopped it because guests complained that it wasn't a buffet.

Just as I found the perfect temperature to keep the plates warm in the oven.

Agreed. We opened on the 4th & have been quiet compared to the norm obviously. Thankfully we haven't had any bad guests so far but it is a struggle for the team with everything in place so a little patience & kindness from the guests goes a long way.

Mega Karen, she can summon an area manager with the raise of an eyebrow. Patience and understanding are so lacking amongst the population it takes a few seconds to let someone past yet the amount of idiots I have encountered in Daily outdoor working during the whole pandemic have been too many, I have been verbally abused, had someone shove me aside and many other idiotic Interactions.

My kids understand it better than 80% of the people I see day to day .

People are starting to get really rude and impatient (not all of course)

I was ready to throw in the towel Monday night, as the thought of more of the same was a thought that I really didn't want to deal with.

We used to have a self serve area, well, that isn't possible at the moment obviously and some people really can't seem to get their heads around it.

"I'll shout out what we've got and you tell me if you want it, if you want a little that's cool, if you want a lot, that's cool. I also understand people not wanting certain foods to touch other certain foods, so just give me the heads up and I'm cool with that too, just please don't pass the table"

Woman starts to follow me past the table where there is a clear fucking sign stating please wait here and do not pass

"Sorry chick, you can't come past the table, just give me a yes or no and I'll sort it for ya"

"But I need to see what there is"

"I'll tell you, or if you prefer here is a list and you tell me"

"But I can't see what there is"

"OK, I'll tell you what there is"

Pushes past me

"So, the reason you can't come past the table is now this food has all been compromised, and I have to throw it all away"

Cheeky fuck put her hand up to my face in a "talk to the hand" fashion and had the gaul to shout "it's fine" at me.

Later that evening a group of 4 probably 19ish year olds come in. Didn't sanitise hands at the entrance and then grabbed a menu from the front desk. I walk over and ask the chap to please hand me the menu.... he goes to put it back... "please don't put it back mate"

Looks me dead in the eye and puts it back. I now have to clean over 100 fucking menus front and back cos I don't know which one it was he put back.

Told him I wasn't gonna let them in as they clearly had no respect for the rules. Prick started to fake cough in my face. No way was I letting them walk through the one way system and past other customers so I told them to make a sharp exit out the way they just came.

Apparently I'm a fucking square little fucking cunt who can't take a joke.

God help us

I feel for you there I swear people’s own ignorance and rudeness it’s going to be hard work to get into the new ways

The public was a fucker when I worked full time as a chef and I’m in no rush to be serving up the new animals

Fucks me off so bad, and staff certainly don't deserve that shit. Nobody does but when you're on minimum wage I think it makes it even more sour

People are starting to get really rude and impatient (not all of course)

I was ready to throw in the towel Monday night, as the thought of more of the same was a thought that I really didn't want to deal with.

We used to have a self serve area, well, that isn't possible at the moment obviously and some people really can't seem to get their heads around it.

"I'll shout out what we've got and you tell me if you want it, if you want a little that's cool, if you want a lot, that's cool. I also understand people not wanting certain foods to touch other certain foods, so just give me the heads up and I'm cool with that too, just please don't pass the table"

Woman starts to follow me past the table where there is a clear fucking sign stating please wait here and do not pass

"Sorry chick, you can't come past the table, just give me a yes or no and I'll sort it for ya"

"But I need to see what there is"

"I'll tell you, or if you prefer here is a list and you tell me"

"But I can't see what there is"

"OK, I'll tell you what there is"

Pushes past me

"So, the reason you can't come past the table is now this food has all been compromised, and I have to throw it all away"

Cheeky fuck put her hand up to my face in a "talk to the hand" fashion and had the gaul to shout "it's fine" at me.

Later that evening a group of 4 probably 19ish year olds come in. Didn't sanitise hands at the entrance and then grabbed a menu from the front desk. I walk over and ask the chap to please hand me the menu.... he goes to put it back... "please don't put it back mate"

Looks me dead in the eye and puts it back. I now have to clean over 100 fucking menus front and back cos I don't know which one it was he put back.

Peach, I don't know how you do it. I really think your management should be stepping in and issuing stricter guidelines. It shouldn't really be on you to deal with that crap and clearly people aren't getting the not going past the table to the buffet idea. Can it be moved into the kitchen and guests handed one use menus as to what's available on it?

oh, I forgot the nurse on Sunday who gave me a mouthful too.

Came to the door wanting a table of 9.

"Unfortunately we can't do that for you today, we wouldn't be able to take a booking of that size, 6 is the maximum per table as per government guidelines I'm afraid"

Then she proceeded to try to get 2 tables next to each other, so I explain we have 1 table of 4 available and the next available table after that isn't for 2 hours so we wouldn't even be able to seat them at the same time let alone anywhere near each other. She looks around and sees empty tables.

I explain that we have removed half our seating capacity and they're reserved for bookings, so unless she can order, have the food cooked, eat and leave within about 25 mins plus allow me time to get the area they've been in sanitised and let it dry ready for the people who've booked it, there's nothing I can do, and that the way things are with all places, it's always best to book.

Holy shit, you'd think I just threw a camel turd at her and told me it was stupid, I replied that it's not stupid, it's the only way we can operate safely.

According to her Boris has got nuts and she knows this cos she's a nurse....

So I thanked her for her service and told her I had followed his instructions for the last 3 months to make her job that bit easier, and maybe it would be good grace for her to do the same.

I understand people are frustrated, but seriously, we're all just trying to pay our bills in as safe a way as possible. We're all following instructions which are changing regularly. It really is a case of "it is what it is".

There are signs everywhere, management to be fair aren't doing a bad job apart from staff levels but that comes from above.

People just don't like change.

Credit where it's due, some have been truly bloody wonderful and I've had a laugh as well as been touched by some of the comments and feedback I've had personally, but fuck me, the prick people don't half make it difficult to put my uniform on and smile.

Nope, they're also having to do the work of 2 people due to labour costs. We have one that's quite nervous and she basically comes to me for reassurance and clarification that she's doing the right thing with decision making or whatever. I can see she's really struggling at the moment so I'm stepping up where I can. If it was her that happened to I think she would have lost it or seated the yooofs when they started kicking off to avoid further confrontation and for me to serve them anyway, so it's probably a good job it was me who greeted them

Golden rule should be any form of abuse to any staff asked to go no matter where there order is Just Leave. Arseholes are everywhere unfortunately. I am being extra nice to people to make up for all the cunts.
