apprently there are swarms of them so big they are turning up on weather radars.... if you live just south of london... or in hampshire between southampton and bournemouth, then it is really bad

Spooky.... I just stepped outside and wondered why all the flying ants... And lo and behold I turn to fab to find out what's been going on.

So yeah... Pretty bad. Hopefully they aren't bringing a plague of anything else with them.

Somewhere In The Ether…

There’s loads of them here today - fascinating little creatures although I am not observing any social distancing between them nor face masks.....

derby

You usually see land gulls or black headed gulls flying high in the thermals at this time of the year going around in tight circles which are often associated with the gulls catching flying ants.

Like tripping over in public. Walk off whistling, totally meant to do that

Birkenhead

Had thousands in my kitchen last year. It was horrible - they were everywhere.

Had a few in my kitchen last week (less than a hundred) but hopefully no more this year.

Coventry

Swarms of them here in Coventry.

This happens one day a year, exactly at the same time, all over the land. How on earth do they all know when to take flight at the same time?

Fascinating.

Normally I hate it, but this year it's just nice to see a planned event going ahead.

SE London

Not many ants here in South London. But I noticed a lot of bees today; the Oregano in my garden started to flower and added to the existing bloom of Sage, Lavender and Roses.

Witney

Had a nice time trying to scare them away but it was pointless lol, so I sat back, popped a can of beer and watch them fly and play around.
