Anger, sadness, anxious etc...how do you handle them when they kick in?

I like to turn my music up, dance and sing at the top of my lungs.

(Not motivated by anything other than me being a nosey and inquisitive woman )

Ride the fuckers out.

I could do with a punchbag for anger and frustration I reckon. Frustration is the one that I struggle with the most and that usually stems from situations that are unfair or unjust.

I find that being able to laugh at myself or make a tit of myself helps, reminds me not everything needs to be serious.

A punch bag is a great idea, wish I space for one. I try to ride them out without letting them take over but it really depends on what it is and what's caused it.

Sleep...I could sleep for days if I didn't have responsibility.

Some days I wake up and have to force myself out of bed, and I basically count down the hours till j get to go back to it.

It passed after a while.

Absolutely, and whether the emotion is something that's gonna be a recurring thing or whether it's as a result from something that's a one off.

Identify them then choose how I’ll process them. I’ll process using one of the following

Express it openly,

Suppress it until I can deal with it appropriately.

Switch attention onto something else like going to the gym, go for a walk, do some cleaning, wardrobe clearing or gardening etc.

Control it and use it

Cathart it and abreact

Meditate and transmute it

Rather than just throwing Mariah at you...

I think it's good to have a range of tools to deal with your emotions. Because your ability to handle it will vary, circumstances will vary, etc. Know yourself, know what works for you, try different things. Have backup options.

Saddle them up and ride them when they come, sometimes it'll be a walking pace, sometimes a trot or a canter and just occasionally it'll be full on bucking bronco

I'm with you there. They don't get rid of the emotions but allow me to manage them better. And they stop the downs from going into the abyss. Still get volcanic anger occasinally though.

Anger I dont do..its heavily managed..its one emotion I learned how to control and suppress..if it brews I generally head for the trees and isolate until it discipates, or I turn to my music and I dance it out. I wasted too many years raging at the world. My softer emotions I let out so if I need to cry them out I do..mostly in private unless I ve woken in the night from my past nightmares..then my gf will hold me til its over.

If mine get too bad and I just want to have a blank mind for a while i get in the car in the dead of night and drive where I usually end up on a very quiet bridge that overlooks the M1 and just sit and watch the cars and lorries go by for a while.

Its been my go to place since i was about 21-22 when life was really hard and its stuck with me ever since.

I find solitude there.

Most things I would normally try to talk over with a few close friends that I trust and who I know won't judge me for anything, who will listen and sometimes help me to see another side to things that I might not see. Those friends are irreplaceable.
