I can't tell you OP - what works for me may not work for you, what may work for one recipient may not work for another.

The key is being able to firstly find what works for you yourself, and then being able to adapt that to each person you may contact.

Even then there's no guarantee of anything, because even if you do get a reply it's then about engaging someone in conversation, and finding them engaging enough that things progress to meeting.
